Omschrijving onderdeel 2:
HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de historische buitenplaats Blikkenburg. Kleinschalige tuin- en parkaanleg in landschappelijke stijl, die deel uitmaakt van een grootschalig groen gebied met bijzondere landschappelijke en cultuurhistorische waarde. Tot dit gebied behoren naast Blikkenburg ook de landgoederen en parken rond slot Zeist en Wulperhorst. De tuin- en parkaanleg van Blikkenburg werd omstreeks 1850 ontworpen door K.G. Zocher in opdracht van de eigenaar van het landgoed, Jhr. J.E. Huydecoper. Bijzonder is dat Zocher ook het huis in de aanleg ontwierp, zodat de onderdelen van de buitenplaats werkelijk een eenheid vormen. Het circa 2 ha. grote, rechthoekige perceel waarop gebouwd werd, ligt ten zuiden van de voormalige ridderhofstad. Op het oorspronkelijk bebouwde perceel zijn de boerderij en de fundamenten van de ridderhof nog aanwezig. Dit terrein is zodoende archeologisch gezien bijzonder waardevol. Vanaf de voormalige ridderhof voerde een wandeling langs de zuidoostzijde van het tegenwoordige Blikkenburg naar Wulperhorst. Dit pad is thans deels met hakhout en opschot begroeid. Centraal en iets verhoogd in de aanleg ligt het huis, geprojecteerd op de zuidwaarts gelegen buitenplaats Wulperhorst, die eveneens in bezit was van Huydecoper. Vanuit het huis is er een zicht over het bouwland richting het park van Wulperhorst (dit gezicht is tegenwoordig dichtgeplant met fijnspar, maar er zijn plannen om het weer vrij te maken). Het perceel was oorspronkelijk aan drie zijden omsloten door waterlopen, in de huidige situatie wordt het terrein geheel door water begrensd. De noordwestelijke sloot werd volgens plan van Zocher deels vergraven tot een landschappelijke vijver, waarna deze vijver middels een ten zuidwesten van het huis nieuw gegraven vijver en sloot verbonden werd met de zuidoostelijke sloot. Beide landschappelijke vijvers vormen beeldbepalende elementen in de aanleg. Langs de grenzen van het perceel liggen, aan de oevers van vijvers en sloten, stroken parkbos waar een rondgaande wandeling doorheen loopt. Vanaf de façade van het huis loopt een glooiend gazon met enkele boomgroepen af naar de zuidwestelijke vijver. Dit gazon wordt aan weerszijden begrensd door heestergroepen en parkbos met een golvende zoom. De zuidoostelijke strook van het terrein heeft vermoedelijk nooit de door Zocher voorgestelde landschappelijke aanleg gekregen, mogelijk was er voor de aanleg door Zocher een boomgaard of moestuin gelegen. Tegenwoordig is dit deel van het terrein deels in gebruik als weide, deels als moestuin. De oprijlaan, die zich vanuit noordwestelijke richting over een toegangsbrug richting huis en koetshuis slingert, splitst zich ten westen van het huis, waarna de beide paden voor, respectievelijk achter het hoofdgebouw langs lopen naar het koetshuis. De paden zijn deels geasfalteerd en deels voorzien van een grintbedekking. De oprit voor het koetshuis is eveneens voorzien van grint. De aanleg in zijn huidige aanzien lijkt een vereenvoudigde vorm van het overgeleverde ontwerp van Zocher. Waarschijnlijk is er gekozen voor een alternatief plan waarover Zocher spreekt in zijn overgeleverde "staat van kosten ..." en dat door een andere invulling van diverse beplante zones een besparing van 1300,- op zou leveren. Ten noorden en ten westen van het huis is in de jaren '80 een formele tuin aangelegd, omgeven door een haag, deze tuin is voor de bescherming van ondergeschikt belang. De tuinschuur uit de jaren '80, die bij de moestuin staat, is voor de bescherming eveneens van ondergeschikt belang.

HISTORICAL GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the historical country estate Blikkenburg. Small-scale garden and park layout in landscape style, which forms part of a large-scale green area with special landscape and cultural-historical value. In addition to Blikkenburg, this area includes the country estates and parks surrounding castle Zeist and Wulperhorst. The garden and park layout of Blikkenburg was designed around 1850 by K.G. Zocher on behalf of the owner of the estate, Jhr. J.E. Huydecoper. It is remarkable that Zocher also developed the house within the layout, so that the components of the country estate truly form a unity. The approximately 2 hectare rectangular plot on which it was built is located to the south of the former knightly manor court. On the originally built plot, the farmhouse and the foundations of the knightly manor are still present. This site is therefore of particular archaeological value. From the former knightly manor, a path led along the southeast side of the present Blikkenburg to Wulperhorst. This path is now partly overgrown with coppice and scrub. Central and slightly elevated in the layout lies the house, positioned with a view towards the country estate Wulperhorst to the south, which was also in the possession of Huydecoper. The plot was originally enclosed on three sides by watercourses; in the current situation the site is entirely bounded by water. According to Zocher's plan, the northwestern ditch was partly deepened into a landscape pond, after which this pond was connected via a newly dug pond and ditch to the southwest of the house with the southeastern ditch. Both landscape ponds form image-defining elements in the layout. Along the boundaries of the plot, on the banks of ponds and ditches, lie strips of park woodland through which a circular walk runs. From the facade of the house, a sloping lawn with several groups of trees descends towards the southwestern pond. This lawn is bounded on both sides by shrub groups and park woodland with an undulating edge. The southeastern strip of the site presumably never received the landscape layout proposed by Zocher; it is possible that before Zocher's design there was an orchard or vegetable garden located there. Nowadays this part of the site is partly used as pasture, partly as a vegetable garden. The drive, which winds from the northwest direction over an access bridge towards the house and carriage house, divides to the west of the house, after which both paths run respectively in front of and behind the main building towards the carriage house. The paths are partly asphalted and partly surfaced with gravel. The drive to the carriage house is also surfaced with gravel. The layout in its current appearance seems to be a simplified version of Zocher's preserved design. It is likely that an alternative plan was chosen, about which Zocher speaks in his preserved "statement of costs..." and which, through a different arrangement of various planted zones, would have achieved a saving of 1300 guilders.
