Inleiding
De PASTORIE van de R.K. Sint Bavokerk te Raamsdonk is gesitueerd ten oosten van de kerk, aan een ovaalvormig plein. De pastorie werd gelijktijdig met de kerk, in 1889 gebouwd. Het ontwerp van het gebouw in eclectische stijl met verwijzingen naar de neogotiek en de neoromaanse stijl, werd geleverd door architect C. Weber, die ook de kerk ontwierp. De pastorie werd later, vermoedelijk in het eerste kwart van deze eeuw, uitgebreid met een éénlaags aanbouw onder plat aan de oostzijde. Rondom de pastorie een tuin, afgesloten door een bakstenen muur met ezelsrug.
Omschrijving
De deels onderkeldere pastorie heeft een globaal rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen onder een plat dak met schilden, deels gedekt met leien, deels mastiek. Aan de oostzijde een aanbouw met rechthoekige plattegrond. Moderne dakvensters in het voorschild. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in baksteen, hardstenen vensterdorpels en dorpellijst. Onder de vensters van de eerste verdieping een waterlijst met dubbele tandlijst, onder de dakgoot een tandlijst en een rondboogfries met natuurstenen aanzetstenen. De westelijke gevel is later voorzien van een cementlaag.
De symmetrische voorgevel (zuidgevel) telt drie traveeën, waarvan de middelste licht vooruitspringt en wordt afgesloten door een topgevel met een natuurstenen deklijst. De middenrisaliet is voorzien van muurnissen, op de bovenverdieping afgesloten door rondbogen. Ter hoogte van de eerste verdieping wordt de gevel op de hoeken gemarkeerd door lisenen, rustend op een natuurstenen kraagsteen. In de middentravee de hoofdingang, bestaande uit een paneeldeur met bovenlicht, waarin een kleine roedenverdeling en glas-in-lood. Hardstenen stoep. De ingang is voorzien van een rondbogige ontlastingsboog met polychroom mozaiek in de boogvelden. Boven de ingangspartij, ter hoogte van de eerste verdieping een tweelichtsvenster, waarboven een ronde blindnis onder ontlastingsboog. De vensters in de voorgevel hebben vierruits stolpramen en halfronde ontlastingsbogen met polychroom mozaiek.
Inwendig toont de pastorie nog de oorspronkelijke indeling. Een kleine hal geeft toegang tot de over de breedte van het pand lopende centrale gang. Aan deze gang liggen aan de voorzijde van het pand rechts een zitkamer, links een trappenhuis en de keuken. Op de bovenverdieping een drietal slaapkamers.
Waardering
De pastorie, behorend bij de Sint Bavokerk is van algemeen belang. De pastorie bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling. De pastorie bezit architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de bijzondere, op de architectuur van de kerk aansluitende detaillering en vanwege de plaats die het inneemt binnen het oeuvre van de architect C. The PRESBYTERY of the R.C. Sint Bavokerk in Raamsdonk is situated to the east of the church, on an oval-shaped square. The presbytery was built at the same time as the church, in 1889. Below the windows of the first floor a drip moulding with double dentil course, below the gutter a dentil course and a round-arch frieze with natural stone setting stones. The symmetrical front façade (south façade) has three bays, of which the middle one projects slightly and is terminated by a top gable with a natural stone coping. The central risalit is provided with wall niches, on the upper floor terminated by round arches. At the level of the first floor the façade on the corners is marked by pilasters, resting on a natural stone corbel. In the middle bay the main entrance, consisting of a panel door with fanlight, in which a small glazing bars and stained glass. Hardstone step. The entrance is provided with a round-arch relieving arch with polychrome mosaic in the arch fields. Above the entrance section, at the level of the first floor a two-light window, above which a round blank opening under relieving arch. The windows in the front façade have four-pane casement windows and semi-circular relieving arches with polychrome mosaic.
Internally the presbytery still shows the original layout. A small hall gives access to the central corridor running across the width of the building.
