The register's description

Inleiding.

Introduction.

The double DWELLING HOUSE with coach entrance is located on the northern side of De Lind and overlooks the so-called bridal lane or Marialaantje. The building dates from the last quarter of the 19th century and is built in a sober Eclectic style. Currently an office is established in the most righthand dwelling house, the dwelling house to the left of the coach entrance stands empty. The dwelling house on the right side is provided with a veranda dating from 1924 and a wide roof dormer, also of a later date.

Description.

The dwelling houses consist of two storeys and a basement under a common gabled roof, covered with improved Dutch tiles. The whole has a rectangular ground plan: on either side of the coach entrance located in the middle, the dwelling houses are provided with a mirrored arrangement with respect to each other. At the rear the dwelling houses overlook a garden. The building has a cornice-topped facade on front and rear, consisting of nine bays. The front facade is built in machine-made brick in stretcher bond with stone plinth and cornice. At both ends the facade is provided with blocked stone corner pilasters with a slightly projecting cornice. Blocked natural stone pilasters with projecting cornices are also applied in the central section with the coach gate, above which is a balcony with ornamental iron railing and a T-window. Above these pilasters the cornice is supported by scroll-shaped consoles. The dwelling houses on either side of the coach entrance each have four window bays: barred windows are applied at basement level, high sash windows on the first storey and lower T-windows on the second storey. The windows on the ground floor and the upper storey have a rounded surround at the top corners with a hood, in which a small head is depicted. The entrances of the dwelling houses are situated in respectively the third and the seventh bay and are accessible via a stone step, with bollards on either side. They are provided with a small, shallow porch and wooden panelled doors with a fanlight of cathedral glass. The coach gate has a double panelled door with a four-pane segmental arch fanlight, also provided with cathedral glass. The left side facade of the building is built from hand-moulded brick with ornamental iron wall anchors. In it, at the level of the attic, a small T-window with three-pane fanlight is applied. The rear facade of the double dwelling house is painted white. At the top it is closed off by a sober, lightly profiled moulding. On the dwelling house on the right side of the coach entrance a number of alterations to the rear facade have taken place: a veranda has been added and the roof here is provided with a wide roof dormer, which runs from the middle of the facade of this dwelling house to above the coach gate. On the upper storey the rear facade is provided with seven six-pane sash windows, on the ground storey in the most lefthand dwelling house on the right a double garden door with three fanlights and wooden shutters is applied. To the left of this are a kitchen door with twenty-pane window and double fanlight and a kitchen window with a twelve-pane hinge window with double fanlight. The interior of the double dwelling house possesses the original wooden roof truss structure with carpenters' marks, which may have been reused secondarily. This is still visible in the dwelling house on the left side of the coach entrance.

Valuation.

The object is of general importance and has cultural-historical value as an illustration of a fairly rare type, namely a double dwelling house with coach entrance. The object has architectural-historical value through its historicising detailing. The object has ensemble value, because it is important as a defining building for the appearance of the already protected village landscape De Lind. Finally, the object is of importance because of external integrity.
