Inleiding.
HEK bij de in de vormen van het Eclecticisme opgetrokken VILLA Hoogenhuizen, gelegen in een landschappelijk aangelegde en omgrachte tuin met oud geboomte nabij de reeds eerder beschermde boerderij no. 10.
Omschrijving.
Smeedijzeren hek tussen pijlers uit baksteen met speklagen en bekroningen van hardsteen. De pijlers sluiten aan op een brug over de gracht, met gebogen wangen en ronde aanzetstenen en bekroningen. De pijlers hebben een geprofileerd voetstuk en een tweetal speklagen onder de bekroningen met pyramidale afdekkingen en de tekst 'Hoogen/Huizen'. Links en rechts van de pijlers steunbeerachtige uitmetselingen met ojiefvormige dekstenen. Schampstenen met ojiefprofiel. Het smeedijzeren hek heeft gekrulde siermotieven en gekrulde bladmotieven op de hoek- en middenstijlen. Opschrift op de achterzijde: 'Anno/1889'.
Waardering.
Het hek is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en landschappelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk het stichten van buitenplaatsen in de omgeving van industriesteden. Wrought-iron gate between piers of brick with stone banding and stone coping. The piers connect to a bridge over the moat, with curved sides and rounded coping stones. The piers have a profiled base and two stone bands under the coping with pyramidal tops and the text 'Hoogen/Huizen'. To the left and right of the piers buttress-like masonry with pointed-arch stone coping. Chamfered stones with pointed-arch moulding. The wrought-iron gate has curled decorative motifs and curled leaf motifs on the corner and middle uprights. Inscription on the reverse: 'Anno/1889'.
