Inleiding.
De PORTIERSWONING is gelegen aan de rechterzijde van de oprijlaan naar het landhuis 'De Hondsberg', aan de Hondsbergselaan. Het gebouw dateert uit 1919. Net als het landhuis is de portierswoning gebouwd in een Um 1800-stijl. In de achtergevel van de portierswoning is sprake van verbouwingen na de oorspronkelijke bouwtijd.
Omschrijving.
Het eenlaags pand heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond. De muren zijn opgetrokken in baksteen in kruisverband, met hardstenen plinten en zandstenen sierstukken. Het huis heeft een zadeldak met verbeterde Hollandse pannen en een bakgoot rustend op klossen. In het midden van het dak is een schoorsteen met tentvormig schoorsteenkapje aangebracht. Het zadeldak is gevat tussen twee klokgevels, omlijst door een rollaag en gesierd met zandstenen voluten en een zandstenen afsluiting in de vorm van een gebogen fronton met palmet. Centraal in de voorgevel bevindt zich de ingang met een geprofileerde deurlijst, waarboven een ovaal bovenlicht is aangebracht. Het huis is in de voor- en zijgevels voorzien van zesruits schuifvensters met luiken. In de zijgevels zijn ter hoogte van de zolderverdieping kleinere zesruits schuifvensters aangebracht. Boven in de klokgevels bevinden zich in beide zijgevels een klein ovaal oeil-de-boeufvenster, omlijst door zandstenen sierstukken met festoenen. Aan de achterzijde bevindt zich in het midden een niet uit de oorspronkelijke bouwtijd daterende eenlaags aanbouw met een klein venster. Aan weerszijden van deze aanbouw zijn deuren aangebracht.
Waardering.
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als illustratie van een typologische ontwikkeling: het is een vrij zeldzaam voorbeeld van een portierswoning behorend bij een landhuis. Daarnaast bezit het object ensemblewaarden: de portierswoning is gebouwd in een historiserende stijl met eclectische detaillering, die een duidelijke verwantschap vertoont met de architectuur van het landhuis.

At the top of the bell gables in both side facades is a small oval oeil-de-boeuf window, framed by sandstone decorative pieces with festoons. On the rear side in the middle is a single-storey extension not dating from the original period of construction with a small window. On either side of this extension doors are arranged.
