Inleiding
WOONHUIS, deel uitmakend van een boerderij, omstreeks 1871 opgetrokken in een ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant als vervanging van het woongedeelte van de boerderij uit 1825 waarvan nu nog de stal (onderdeel II) resteert.
Omschrijving
De sober vormgegeven boerderij is een op rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken éénlaags bouwlichaam van vijf vensterassen met in kruisverband gemetselde gevels van handvorm baksteen onder een met kruispannen gedekt zadeldak waarvan de nokas parallel aan de straat loopt. Op de hoeken bevinden zich twee, vernieuwde, gemetselde schoorstenen. In het dak bevinden zich verder enkele kleine dakvenstertjes. Aan de voorzijde bevindt zich een klein stoepje met optrede.
De opvallend hoge plint van de symmetrische voorgevel is gecementeerd en opgetrokken tot de onderzijde van de doorgetrokken hardstenen vensteronderdorpels. De vensters zijn recht gesloten en hebben afgeronde hoeken en schuiframen met glas-in-lood in de bovenlichten.
Eenvoudige goot en gecementeerd fries.
Aan de voorzijde zijn de deur en de ramen, waarschijnlijk in de jaren zestig van de twintigste eeuw, vervangen door de huidige. Aan de rechterzijde van de ingang bevindt zich de kleine hardstenen gedenksteen van de eerste steenlegging uit 1871.
Intern wordt het pand gedeeld door een centrale gang die betegeld is met zeshoekige zwarte en gele estriken. Aan de zuidzijde bevindt zich een grote kamer die van sobere stucplafonds voorzien is en een marmeren schouw heeft. Deze kamer werd in tijden van watersnood gebruikt als stalling voor het vee. Aan de oostzijde hiervan bevindt zich een smalle kamer die als slaapvertrek gebruikt werd. Aan de stalzijde bevinden zich een slaapvertrek en de keuken.
Enkele van de oorspronkelijke elementen zoals schouw en alkoof bevinden zich nog wel in situ maar zijn aan door betimmeringen aan het zicht onttrokken. De kelder is volgestort met puin. Een originele plee is nog aanwezig.
Waardering
De boerderij is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling en typologische ontwikkeling van het boerenbedrijf in Noord-Brabant. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de betekenis die het heeft voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur van het boerenbedrijf. RESIDENCE, forming part of a farmstead, built around 1871 in a craft-traditional building style as a replacement for the residential part of the farmstead from 1825 of which only the barn (component II) now remains.
Description
The soberly designed farmstead is a single-storey building block on a rectangular plan with five window bays with cross-bonded fair-faced hand-moulded brick facades under a saddle roof covered with cross pantiles with the ridge parallel to the street. On the corners are two, renewed, brick chimneys. The roof also contains several small roof windows. At the front is a small step with a threshold.
The strikingly high plinth of the symmetrical front facade is cemented and raised to the underside of the continuous stone window sills. The windows are straight-headed with rounded corners and sash windows with leaded light in the fanlights.
Simple gutter and cemented frieze.
At the front, the door and windows were probably replaced in the nineteen-sixties with the current ones. To the right of the entrance is the small stone commemorative plaque of the foundation stone from 1871.
Internally the building is divided by a central corridor tiled with hexagonal black and yellow terracotta. On the south side is a large room with plain stucco ceilings and a marble fireplace. This room was used during times of flooding as a cattle shelter. On the east side of this is a narrow room used as a sleeping chamber. On the barn side are a sleeping chamber and the kitchen.
Some of the original elements such as fireplace and alcove are still in situ but are hidden from view by paneling. The cellar is filled with rubble. An original privy is still present.
Valuation
The farmstead is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of the socio-economic and typological development of the farm business in North Brabant. It has architectural-historical value because of its significance for the history of farm architecture. It has ensemble value because of the historical-spatial relationship between the different components and the development that can be discerned from this. It is a relatively rare example of a well-preserved whole.
