Omschrijving onderdeel 5: BRUGGEN en KEERMUUR.
BRUGGEN en KEERMUUR; beide bruggen liggen in de as; de keermuur is de grachtmuur aan eilandzijde van de oostelijke arm. De brug over de gracht maakt bouwkundig gezien onderdeel uit van het inrijhek en de keermuur: de keermuur fungeert als bruggenhoofd; hierop staat het hek; brug en keermuur van baksteen, achttiende eeuw; brug met twee afgeplatte togen en smeedijzeren leuningen met boogjes; klinkerplaveisel. De tweede brug ligt in oostelijke richting in het verlengde van de andere brug en leidt over de Zandwetering tot het complex; bakstenen brug met doorlopende bakstenen borstwering; eerste kwart van de twintigste eeuw; één segmentvormige toog; klinkerplaveisel; de bakstenen wanden buigen aan het begin en eind naar buiten uit; in beide wangen in hardsteen het wapen De Vos van Steenwijk; midden op de leuningen twee zandstenen leeuwen als wapenhouders, vierde kwart van de zeventiende eeuw, afkomstig van de ingangspartij van het gesloopte huis; de beide zittende, naar elkaar neigende leeuwen houden elk een verticaal gekroond blind (!) schild in rolwerk cartouches, de één met mannelijk wapenschild met randspreuk "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", de ander een ovaal schild zonder randspreuk.

BRIDGES and RETAINING WALL; both bridges lie on the main axis; the retaining wall is the moat wall on the island side of the eastern arm. The bridge over the moat forms, from a structural point of view, part of the entrance gate and the retaining wall: the retaining wall serves as bridgehead; on it stands the gate; bridge and retaining wall of brick, eighteenth century; bridge with two flattened arches and wrought-iron railings with arches; brick paving. The second bridge lies in an easterly direction in the extension of the other bridge and leads over the Zandwetering to the complex; brick bridge with continuous brick parapet; first quarter of the twentieth century; one segmental arch; brick paving; the brick walls curve outwards at the beginning and end; in both cheeks in hardstone the coat of arms De Vos van Steenwijk; in the middle of the railings two sandstone lions as supporters, fourth quarter of the seventeenth century, originating from the entrance section of the demolished house; the two seated lions, leaning towards each other, each hold a vertical crowned blank (!) shield in scrollwork cartouches, the one with a masculine coat of arms with border inscription "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", the other an oval shield without border inscription.
