Inleiding
Ter hoogte van de landbouwbrug (6.2) over het Defensiekanaal staat ten westen van kazemat 428, de S (3a) KAZEMAT 429, daterende uit 1939-1940. De wal is ter plaatse aan de zijde van het kanaal afgegraven, de kazemat staat op de zuidelijke kade van het kanaal.
Omschrijving
De kazemat staat aan aan een lokale, thans verharde ontsluitingsweg en kan door het middelste schietgat frontaal vuur op deze weg uitbrengen. De kazemat is gaaf bewaard gebleven en vertoont geen gevechtsschade.
Waardering
De kazemat is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het is van architectuur- en bouwhistorisch belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne materialen en technieken, met name in de verwerking van gewapend beton. Het heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel, dat cultuurhistorisch van belang is en is van belang wegens de hoogwaardige kwaliteit van de bebouwing en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid. At the level of the agricultural bridge (6.2) over the Defensiekanaal, west of casemate 428, stands the S (3a) CASEMATE 429, dating from 1939-1940. The earthwork has been excavated at this location on the canal side, the casemate stands on the southern embankment of the canal.

The casemate stands at a local, now hardened access road and can deliver frontal fire on this road through the middle gun embrasure. The casemate has been well preserved and shows no combat damage.
Valuation
The casemate is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of cultural and geographical development, namely the fortification and subsequent defence of the Netherlands during the Second World War and is as such an important document of military history. It is of architectural and construction-historical importance because of the particular use of materials and the application of modern materials and techniques, in particular in the use of reinforced concrete. It has ensemble values as an essential component of a larger whole, which is of cultural-historical importance and is significant because of the high quality of the construction and the historical-spatial relationship with roads, waterways and ground conditions. The whole has great perceptual value and is, as a large-scale military complex and reminder of an important episode in national history, rare.
