Inleiding
Aan de westelijke zijde van de Nieuwstraat staat, met de rooilijn direct aan de straat, een eenvoudig DORPSWOONHUIS met enkele eclectische stijlvormen, dat omstreeks 1880 gebouwd is. Aan de noordelijke zijde staat het pand vrij.
Omschrijving
Het eenlaags woonhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak met oud Hollandse pannen. De asymmetrische voorgevel telt vier vensterassen en is opgetrokken in handvorm baksteen, voorzien van een gepleisterde plint en in rode en zwarte verf geschilderde kruisvormige motieven.
Rechts van het midden is een vernieuwde paneeldeur met oorspronkelijk gedeeld bovenlicht, voorzien van een gestucte, geprofileerde en geschilderde omlijsting met kuif. De overige vensters, alle T-schuifvensters met gedeeld bovenlicht en hardstenen dorpel, hebben een dergelijke omlijsting. De handvorm bakstenen zijgevels zijn voorzien van smeedijzeren steekankers. De zuidelijke heeft op de kapverdieping een vierruits schuifvensters, de noordelijke een segmentbooglicht met ijzeren vorktracering. Aan de achterzijde staat een haakse eenlaags aanbouw onder zadeldak, gedekt met oud Hollandse pannen.
Waardering
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van middenstandswoningen in het bestaande historische weefsel; het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het dorpshuis, waarbij de woning de negentiende-eeuwse fase in deze in Oirschot vanaf de zeventiende eeuw aanwijsbare ontwikkeling representeert. Het object is van architectuurhistorisch belang door de stijl en detaillering, waarbij een aan de stedelijke architectuur ontleende vormentaal aangepast wordt voor de representatie van het zelfbewustzijn van de dorpse elite. The single-storey house has a rectangular plan and is covered by a gabled roof with old Dutch tiles. The asymmetrical front facade has four window bays and is constructed of handmade brick, provided with a rendered plinth and painted with red and black cross-shaped motifs.
To the right of centre is a renewed panel door with original divided fanlight, provided with a stuccoed, moulded and painted surround with hood. The remaining windows, all T-sash windows with divided fanlight and stone sill, have a similar surround. The handmade brick side walls are provided with wrought-iron wall anchors. The southern one has on the attic storey a four-pane sash window, the northern one a segmental arch light with iron fork tracery. At the rear stands a right-angled single-storey extension under a gabled roof, covered with old Dutch tiles.

It has cultural-historical importance as a special expression of socio-economic development, namely the establishment of middle-class houses in the existing historic fabric; it is also of importance as an example of the typological development of the village house, whereby the dwelling represents the nineteenth-century phase in this development in Oirschot traceable since the seventeenth century.
