Inleiding
De woningen zijn gebouwd naar plannen van W.M. Dudok in 1937, in samenwerking met aannemer P. van Grootel en maken deel uit van de wijk 'Het Witte Dorp'.
Omschrijving
Rij tweelaags panden. Op de begane grond is een erker aangebracht waarvan de afdekking als een luifel doorloopt tot boven de deur. Op de verdieping zijn dicht op elkaar geplaatste vierruitsramen zichtbaar.
Het hoekpand, St. Leonardusstraat 2 is drie lagen hoog, onder een dak haaks op de straat. Het uiteinde van de voorgevel telt twee bouwlagen, het dakvlak loopt hier gedeeltelijk lager door. Boven de deur is een luifel aangebracht, de ramen zijn samengesteld. Op de verdieping is een deur met een klein balkon aanwezig. Opzij van het pand staat een anderhalve laag hoge schuur onder zadeldak.
De andere hoek van het blok is St. Adrianusstraat 1, een tweelaags pand met topgevel, onder een zadeldak waarvan de nok haaks op de straat staat (in het verlengde van de aangrenzende rij).
De voorgevel is voorzien van samengestelde ramen, in de zijgevel zijn vierkante ramen en één rond raam aangebracht. Boven de deur steekt een luifel uit. Haaks op de hoofdmassa is een éénlaags aanbouw onder zadeldak geplaatst.
Waardering
De woonhuizen zijn van algemeen belang. Ze hebben cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische en stedenbouwkundige ontwikkeling van de industriestad, met name als voorbeeld van de ontwikkeling van nieuwe wijken in een vroege vorm van projectontwikkeling; ze zijn tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de rijtjeswoning.
