Vrijstaand WOONHUIS uit 1889-1894, evenwijdig aan de Zeisterweg gelegen en hoofdonderdeel van het complex De Viersprong.
Omschrijving
Het vrijstaande woonhuis van twee bouwlagen met souterrain en een samengesteld zadeldak is in baksteen opgetrokken vanuit een T-vormige plattegrond. Het evenwijdig aan de Zeisterweg gelegen zuidelijke zadeldak wordt doorsneden door het noordelijke zadeldak, dat met de nokrichting evenwijdig aan de Doornseweg ligt. In de zuidoostelijke oksel van de T bevindt zich een drie bouwlagen hoge, ronde toren met een achthoekige opbouw.
De gevels worden horizontaal geleed door uitgemetselde muizentandlijsten. De kopse gevels zijn uitgevoerd als trapgevels met ezelsruggen. De daken zijn gedekt met gesmoorde tuiles du Nord. De rechtgesloten vensters onder strek, segmentboog of veelpassig spaarveld bevatten houten schuif- en vaste ramen.
De drieassige, symmetrische zuidgevel heeft in het midden een Vlaamse gevel met trapgevel en steekkap. Over de gehele breedte bevindt zich een veranda met balkon met op de verdieping in het midden balkondeuren en aan weerszijden een schuifvenster. Op de begane grond bevindt zich een openslaande deur naar het terras. De oostgevel heeft op iedere verdieping drie smalle vensters onder veelpassig spaarveld en in de top een venster onder rondboogvormig boogveld.
De traptoren annex watertoren bevat aan de zuidoostzijde per bouwlaag een schuifvenster onder segmentboogvormig boogveld en in de derde laag smalle hoge vensters. In de eerste laag is een cartouche met de naam 'De Viersprong' ingemetseld. De toren heeft gemetselde sierlijsten en een gemetselde trans in siermetselwerk met onder meer een rondboogfries en een groen geglazuurde afdekking. In de top is een waterreservoir ingebouwd met een inhoud van 3000 liter. Naast de toren, in de smalle tussenbouw die aansluit op de zuidgevel is de hoofdingang geplaatst.
Het grotendeels bewaarde interieur bevat bijzondere elementen en vertrekken, zoals de salon.
Waardering
Het woonhuis, hoofdgebouw van het complex De Viersprong is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als uitwendig gaaf bewaard voorbeeld van een woonhuis met trap- en watertoren uit het einde van de negentiende eeuw in de trant van een middeleeuws kasteel, vanwege de karakteristieke hoofdvorm, alsmede vanwege de historisch-functionele relatie met het koetshuis.
Het huis heeft landschappelijke waarde vanwege het karakteristieke silhouet en de beeldbepalende ligging nabij de kruising van de Zeisterweg en de Doornseweg.

Description
The detached dwelling house of two storeys with basement and a composite gabled roof is constructed in brick from a T-shaped ground plan. The southern gabled roof situated parallel to the Zeisterweg is intersected by the northern gabled roof, which is aligned with the ridge direction parallel to the Doornseweg. In the southeastern corner of the T is situated a three-storey-high, round tower with octagonal elevation.
The facades are horizontally articulated by rendered mouse-tooth mouldings. The gable end walls are executed as stepped gables with saddle backs. The roofs are covered with muted tuiles du Nord. The flush windows with straight lintels, segmental arches or multi-centred relieving arches contain wooden sash windows and fixed windows.
The three-bay, symmetrical south facade has in the centre a Flemish gable with stepped gable and roof pitch. Along the entire width there is a veranda with balcony with on the upper storey in the centre balcony doors and on either side a sash window. On the ground floor there is a french door opening onto the terrace. The east facade has on each storey three narrow windows with multi-centred relieving arches and in the top a window with a rounded arch relieving arch.
The stair tower and water tower contain on the southeast side per storey a sash window with segmental arch relieving arch and in the third storey narrow tall windows. In the first storey a cartouche with the name 'De Viersprong' is set in the masonry. The tower has rendered ornamental mouldings and a rendered cross in ornamental brickwork including inter alia a rounded arch frieze and a green glazed coping. At the top a water reservoir is built in with a capacity of 3000 litres. Next to the tower, in the narrow intermediate structure that connects to the south facade, the main entrance is positioned.
The largely preserved interior contains special elements and rooms, such as the salon.
Valuation
The dwelling house, principal building of the De Viersprong complex, is of general importance on account of its cultural and architectural-historical value as an externally well-preserved example of a dwelling house with stair and water tower from the end of the nineteenth century in the manner of a medieval castle, on account of its characteristic main form, and also on account of the historical-functional relationship with the carriage house.
The house has landscape value on account of its characteristic silhouette and visually determining location near the intersection of the Zeisterweg and the Doornseweg.
