Inleiding.
De voormalige VOORWERKERSWONING is in 1900 gebouwd en is gelegen in het heideontginningsgebied van het landgoed "De Utrecht" dat is aangelegd na 1898 door de verzekeringmaatschappij van die naam. De architect was Jan van der Valk. Het landgoed is onder meer gelegen in de gemeente Reusen-De Mierden en Hilvarenbeek. Tot ca. 1985 stond tegenover het als woonhuis in gebruik zijnde pand een uitkijktoren om in een vroeg stadium bosbrand te kunnen signaleren. Bij na-oorlogse verbouwingen is de voordeur verplaatst van de zij- naar de voorgevel en is tevens het interieur grotendeels gewijzigd.
Omschrijving.
De gevels van het rechthoekige eenlaagse pand zijn gepleisterd en wit geschilderd. De plint is zwart geschilderd. In de muren bevinden zich rechte steekankers. Op het wolfdak liggen rode muldenpannen. Het overstek rust op geprofileerd gesneden klosjes.
Het pand is onderkelderd en bezit in de voorgevel een gekoppeld kelderraampje met luiken. De beide T-vensters met kleine roedenverdeling in het bovenlicht hebben onderluiken met beschildering in rood, wit en groen met diabolo-motief. Via twee baksteen treden rechts de vernieuwde paneeldeur, het bovenlicht in kleine roeden verdeeld. Op zolder is er een gekoppeld vierruits raam. De rechter gevel heeft een laag raam met luiken en een wc-raampje op de plaats waar zich oorspronkelijk de voordeur bevond. De achtergevel bezit een schuifraam en nieuwe openslaande deuren met kleine roedenverdeling.
Tot de oorspronkelijke elementen in het interieur behoren de balken plafonds met smalle balken en een grote buffetkast, behorende tot de achter de voordeur gesitueerde keuken.
De linker gevel is blind.
Waardering.
De voormalige boswachterswoning is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van de landbouw in Nederland, in het bijzonder de grootschalige ontginning van woeste gronden in de 20ste eeuw en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de dienstwoning. Architectuurhistorisch is het pand van belang vanwege de aan de landschappelijke omgeving aangepaste sobere ornamentiek.
Het heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van het te beschermen grootschalige landgoed 'De Utrecht'. Het is belangrijk vanwege de gaafheid van het exterieur.

Introduction.
The former FOREMAN'S DWELLING was built in 1900 and is located in the heathland reclamation area of the estate "De Utrecht" that was laid out after 1898 by the insurance company of that name. Valuation.
The former forester's dwelling is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical importance as an example of the social-economic development of agriculture in the Netherlands, in particular the large-scale reclamation of waste land in the 20th century and as an example of the typological development of the service dwelling. Architecturally the building is of importance because of the sober ornamentation adapted to the surrounding landscape.
It has ensemble value as part of the large-scale estate 'De Utrecht' to be protected. It is important because of the integrity of the exterior.
