Inleiding
Aan de westzijde van de Rozengracht en enigszins naar achter gelegen in 1888 tot stand gekomen gebouw voor GENEESKUNDIGE ARMENVERZORGING naar een ontwerp in Vakwerk-stijl van de toenmalige dienst der Publieke Werken in de gemeente Amsterdam.
N.B. In 1902 werd het gebouw naar de Singelgracht vergroot met een zittinglokaal ten behoeve van de Gemeentelijken Geneeskundigen Dienst.
In 1916 werd het zittinglokaal uitgebreid met een slaapkamer.
Omschrijving
Op een onregelmatige plattegrond en geheel in hout opgetrokken bouwmassa bestaande uit één bouwlaag met donkere plint onder een samenstel van fors overstekende schild- en zadeldaken. Het zittinglokaal uit 1902 (nr. 226A) heeft een plat dak. De gebouwen zijn voorzien van vier- en zesruitsvensters met bovenlichten. Het vakwerk bestaat uit door stijl- en regelwerk gevormde vlakken, sommige gevuld met Andreaskruisen. Onder de overstekende dakgoot een fries van gepotdekselde houten delen.
Waardering
Voormalig gebouw voor geneeskundige armenverzorging van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-maatschappelijke ontwikkeling alsmede van belang vanwege de typologische en functionele zeldzaamheid en vanwege het materiaalgebruik en de vormgeving in vakwerkstijl.

Introduction
Building erected in 1888 on the west side of the Rozengracht and somewhat set back for MEDICAL POOR RELIEF according to a design in Timber-frame style by the then department of Public Works in the municipality of Amsterdam.
N.B. In 1902 the building was extended towards the Singelgracht with a sitting room for the benefit of the Municipal Medical Service.
In 1916 the sitting room was extended with a bedroom.
Description
Building mass erected on an irregular ground plan and entirely in wood consisting of one storey with dark plinth under an assembly of substantially projecting hipped and gabled roofs. The sitting room from 1902 (no. 226A) has a flat roof. The buildings are provided with four- and six-light windows with fanlights. The timber-frame consists of fields formed by stile and rail work, some filled with St. Andrew's crosses. Under the projecting roof gutter a frieze of potted clay wooden elements.
Evaluation
Former building for medical poor relief of cultural-historical value as a special expression of a socio-social development as well as of importance because of typological and functional rarity and because of the material use and design in timber-frame style.
