Inleiding
DIERENVERBLIJF (22) bekend als het Minangkabauhuis, in 1916 gebouwd als onderkomen voor kleine hoefdieren, onderdeel van het Artiscomplex. Het gebouw is een navolging van de inheemse huizen in de Padangse bovenlanden van Sumatra. Het ligt in de oostelijke helft van het park ongeveer op de middenas.
Beschrijving Vrijstaande houten stal in vakwerkstructuur met voor de Padangstijl typerende in elkaar geschoven rieten daken met concave nokken. Om de uiterste punten van de daken zijn metalen konische beschermingbuizen aangebracht. Deze pirons beschermen de uiteinden van de gebruikte rietstengels. De concave nok is afgedekt met vorsten. ANIMAL ENCLOSURE (22) known as the Minangkabau House, built in 1916 as accommodation for small hoofed animals, component of the Artis complex. In the middle a short mortared chimney. Overhangs at the stepped gables with dark-painted timber lattice construction. Side facades with projection corresponding to the overhang of the middle roof. Timber-frame construction with wall panels. On the underside hourglass-shaped decoration. Whitewashed panels; reddish-brown painted uprights and rails and black-coloured decoration at the hourglass motifs. On both side facades in the middle panel there is more extensive decoration.
