The register's description

Inleiding.

Introduction.

The PARSONAGE was built in 1925 in the style of the Amsterdam School according to design by architect J. Franssen.

Description.

The two-storey parsonage has an almost rectangular plan. The facades are built of machine-made brick.

The brickwork is enlivened among other things by roll courses around the windows. On the gabled roof of the main building and on the mansard roof of the extension lie black improved Dutch roof tiles.

The main entrance is located in the south facade at the small square in front of the church. On either side of the built-out portal is a cross window with small glazing bars and green glass in the upper panel. The window sills are of ashlar. The corners of the facade are accentuated by broad pilasters with concrete coping: below this a section of the broad surrounding gutter is visible. The heavily proportioned portal is closed off by a gabled roof with improved Dutch roof tiles, with strong gutter lines on the sides. Internally it contains a pointed-arch porch with wing doors. The fanlight is almost triangular and features a stained-glass representation of St. Joseph with lily branch. On the first floor are three square cross windows, with darker, rough brickwork layers between them. The form of the pointed gable is emphasized by the square window placed diagonally. The west facade on Kerkstraat consists of two parts. On the left is a slightly recessed single-storey extension under mansard roof. On the right a two-storey section with symmetrical facade arrangement. The extension has a cross window, a panel door with fanlight and a roof dormer under flat roof. The side facade contains on the ground floor and above two cross windows with intermediate pilasters and decorative brickwork in relief. The main building has on the ground floor two cross windows and centrally an oriel with chamfered sides and flat roof. On the floor above are two square cross windows and in the middle a double cross window. In the roof above this a roof dormer with coupled window and flat roof. The rear facade, facing the small garden, is simpler in design. On ground floor and floor above are from left to right a cross window, a double cross window and a half cross window. This is followed by a two-storey extension under flat roof.

Valuation.

The parsonage is of general importance. It has cultural-historical importance as a particular expression of the development of Catholicism in the south and is also of importance for the typological development of the parsonage. It has architectural-historical value because of the style and detailing and because of its place in the oeuvre of architect Franssen. The building has ensemble values because of its location next to the church, closely linked with the development of the church village.
