Omschrijving
Inleiding.

Description
Introduction.
The VILLA DE HANEKAMP was built around 1890 as a service dwelling in Neo-Renaissance style in service of Huize Padua. The name is derived from the "Hanenkamp" at Handel, where the brothers would live from 1722 for twenty years. The building currently serves as residential accommodation for the patients at Huize Padua.
Description.
The two-storey villa comprises five bays and has a rectangular plan. The building has a surrounding hipped roof with slate tiles in rens covering. On both sides the building has a single-storey transverse annex, under a gabled roof with black cross pantiles. The right section was built as a coach house.
The facades are constructed of machine-made brick and furnished with sandstone speckled courses and corner stones. The plinth is of hardstone.
The corners and the central bay are accentuated by pilasters with diamond heads and scroll consoles in the plastered cornice. Horizontal articulation takes place through the continuous hardstone lintel of the windows and the profiled moulding at the height of the balcony plinth. The sash windows have a divided lower and fanlight. The windows on the ground floor are provided with a surround with arched top. This has corner stones and a diamond head as keystone. The sash windows and the fanlight of the balcony doors on the upper storey are placed under a segmental arch, with the same finish. Centrally there is a segmental arch portico in which a glazed door is situated. The lower panel is provided with cushioned panels and worked push bars. The upper panel has two vertical panes with wrought-iron decorative grilles. Above the portico a balcony is placed, furnished with cast-iron balusters and scroll-shaped consoles. On the four corner points of the roof stand brick chimneys. The rear facade of the main building has a corresponding layout to the front facade, but without portico and balcony.
The ancillary buildings are set back slightly. The gabled roof projects slightly and is furnished with a worked soffit with cross timber, a false rafter. The sides are laid as pilasters extending into a stepped climbing frieze. The right building has arched carriage doors on the front, above which an arched hoist door is placed. In the side facade there is a Romanesque window and a six-pane window, the rear facade has a panelled door and a round window. In the left building on the ground floor there is a six-pane sash window and above it a cast-iron round window. In the side facade there is a panelled door and a six-pane window. The rear facade has a six-pane window and a round window.
A corridor with black and white marble tiles runs through the house to the garden door. On the left side there is a room, on the right a room en suite. All these spaces, also on the upper storey, are furnished with stucco ceilings with floral motifs. Behind the left room there is a transverse corridor which leads to the door in the side building. Behind this a service stair leads to the upper storey and attic. The main baluster in columnar form is of walnut, the remaining balusters are of cast iron with central decoration. The attic storey is furnished with a heavy pine roof truss structure with clothes-drying racks.
The front garden of the house is bounded by a cast-iron decorative fence, furnished with pineapples and arrowheads. Behind the house there is a large garden, whose lawn is bordered by monumental beeches and chestnuts.
Valuation.
The villa is of general interest. The building has cultural-historical value as an example of a spiritual development, namely the flourishing of religious orders and congregations and their role in healthcare and charity in the Catholic south, and is also of importance as an example of the typological development of the service dwelling. It is of architectural-historical importance because of the style and ornamentation and the way in which motifs from the Neo-styles are applied to convey the ideals of care and charity. It has ensemble value because of the coherence of chapel, monastery and service buildings. It has remained intact both internally and externally.
