Inleiding
Voor de gevel van Sint Luciastraat 3 bevindt zich een VERDEEL- of SCHAKELKAST van de Provinciale Noordbrabantse Electriciteits Maatschappij, waarvan het ontwerp stamt uit omstreeks 1935.
Omschrijving
De groengeschilderde gietijzeren schakelkast is opgehangen aan twee staande, in de grond verankerde I-normaalprofielbalken. Aan de voorzijde een klep met slot, twee draaiknoppen en de in laagreliëf in het gietijzer aangebrachte letter K, gevat in de letter O (Odink-Koenerink, Haaksbergen, fabrikant van de kast).
Onder de kast drie invoer- of mantelbuizen.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een technische ontwikkeling, het getuigt van de elektrificatie van het Noordbrabantse platteland in de eerste helft van deze eeuw, het is typologisch van belang voor de ontwikkeling van de electrotechniek. Het object heeft ensemblewaarden als historisch straatmeubilair dat bijdraagt aan de visuele gaafheid van de stedelijke omgeving, met name het beschermde stadsgezicht. Het object is gaaf bewaard gebleven en uiterst zeldzaam.

In front of the elevation of Sint Luciastraat 3 is a DISTRIBUTION or SWITCHBOARD of the Provincial North Brabant Electricity Company, the design of which dates from around 1935.

The green-painted cast-iron switchboard is suspended from two vertical I-section standard profile beams anchored in the ground. On the front a flap with lock, two rotary knobs and the letter K embossed in low relief in the cast iron, set within the letter O (Odink-Koenerink, Haaksbergen, manufacturer of the cabinet).
Below the cabinet three inlet or conduit tubes.
Valuation
The object is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a special expression of technical development, it testifies to the electrification of the North Brabant countryside in the first half of this century, it is typologically important for the development of electrical engineering. The object has ensemble values as historic street furniture that contributes to the visual integrity of the urban environment, in particular the protected townscape. The object has remained well-preserved and is extremely rare.
