Inleiding
BASSIN onderdeel van het complex bedevaartsoord van de H.H. Martelaren van Gorcum. Het midden in het Martelveld liggende bassin, dat bekend is als "de Heilige Put", bevindt zich op de plaats waar zich de visvijver bevond van het voormalige St. Elisabethklooster van de reguliere kanunniken van Sint Augustinus. In het water van deze visvijver zouden de beenderen van de Martelaren van Gorcum zijn gewassen, waardoor aan het water een geneeskrachtige werking wordt toegekend.
Omschrijving
Bassin in de vorm van een langgerekt ovaal bestaande uit gemetselde wanden verstevigd door middel van schieters en afgedekt met platte, natuurstenen dekplaten. In het midden van één van de lange, rechte zijden bevindt zich een trap met natuursteen treden naar een plateau op waterniveau omgeven door een eenvoudig hekwerk van ijzeren stangen. De wand tegenover deze trappartij heeft een natuurstenen balk, restant van een tweede trappartij naar de bron.

Introduction
BASIN forming part of the pilgrimage site complex of the Holy Martyrs of Gorcum. The basin located in the middle of the Martyrs' Field, known as "the Holy Well", is situated on the spot where the fish pond of the former St. Elisabeth Cloister of the Regular Canons of Saint Augustine used to be. According to tradition, the bones of the Martyrs of Gorcum were washed in the water of this fish pond, which is why the water is believed to have healing powers.
Description
Basin in the form of an elongated oval consisting of brick walls reinforced by means of shoring and covered with flat, natural stone coping slabs. In the middle of one of the long, straight sides there is a staircase with natural stone steps leading to a platform at water level surrounded by a simple railing of iron bars. The wall opposite this staircase has a natural stone beam, the remains of a second staircase leading to the spring.
