Inleiding
OMGANG van gewapend beton om het Getuigen- of Martelveld, behorende bij het Bedevaartsoord van de H.H. Martelaren van Gorcum. De omgang werd in 1912 gebouwd ter vervanging van de door storm beschadigde houten omgang uit 1877. De carrévormige omgang werd door de 'N.V. Industrieel Maatschappij F.J. Stulemeyer & Co. Constructeurs van Werken in Gewapend Beton te Breda' geleverd. De omgang biedt plaats aan de in 1870 volgens een speciaal glasprocedé in België vervaardigde kruiswegstaties.
Omschrijving
De iets schuin op de processiegangen van de bedevaartskerk aansluitende omgang is naar het Martelveld geopend en aan de buitenzijde voorzien van sobere, onversierde muren van gewapend beton verstevigd door steunberen. De omgang heeft afgesnoten hoekpartijen en staat onder een zadeldakvormige overkapping met bitumineuze dakbedekking. De omgang is op enkele plaatsen geaccentueerd door een puntgeveltje met dwarskap. In de zuidwestelijke langsgevel bevindt zich een stel schuifdeuren, waardoor de omgang en het Martelveld kunnen worden bereikt zonder de kerk te betreden. De omgang heeft een met rode tegels bedekte vloer met betonnen rand en een rondom lopende reeks, slechts uit twee gelijke spantbenen samengestelde driehoekspanten (V-spanten), die aan de buitenzijde zijn verbonden met de buitenmuur en de steunberen, en aan Martelveldzijde met rechthoekige kolommen. De vlakke wanden worden verlevendigd door kruiswegstaties en een onder een van de dwarskappen staand tegeltableau met een in het Latijn opgestelde tekst en entre-lacmotieven. De naar de kerk gerichte, zuidoostelijke kopse zijde is in het midden voorzien een dwarskap en een spitsboogvormige gevelopening, die aan weerszijden wordt geflankeerd door een tudorboogvormige gevelopening. De schuifdeuren in de zuidwestelijke langsgevel staan onder een dwarskap die is voorzien van samengestelde V-spanten.

AMBULATORY of reinforced concrete around the Witnesses' or Martyrs' Field, belonging to the Pilgrimage Site of the Holy Martyrs of Gorcum. The ambulatory was built in 1912 as a replacement for the wooden ambulatory from 1877 which had been damaged by storm. The square-shaped ambulatory was supplied by the 'N.V. Industrieel Maatschappij F.J. Stulemeyer & Co. Constructeurs van Werken in Gewapend Beton te Breda'. The ambulatory provides space for the Stations of the Cross made in Belgium in 1870 according to a special glass process.
Description
The ambulatory, which connects at a slight angle to the processional passages of the pilgrimage church, opens onto the Martyrs' Field and is provided on the outside with austere, unornamented walls of reinforced concrete reinforced by buttresses. The south-eastern gable end facing the church is provided in the middle with a cross-gable and a pointed-arch-shaped gable opening, which is flanked on either side by a Tudor-arch-shaped gable opening. The sliding doors in the south-western long wall are situated beneath a cross-gable which is provided with composite V-shaped trusses.
