Inleiding
Dit WINKEL-WOONHUIS, gebouw voor C. Peereboom, dateert uit 1910 en is gebouwd onder architectuur van J. Rooijakkers. De stijl vertoont elementen van de Neo-Renaissance. Omstreeks 1990 is het interieur van de winkel verbouwd.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw heeft een globaal T-vormige plattegrond, telt één, deels anderhalve bouwlaag en wordt gedekt door zadeldaken met tuile du nord pannen. De gevels zijn opgemetseld in baksteen en geleed met gepleisterde banden. Ter hoogte van de balklaag en de kap zijn smeedijzeren muurankers aangebracht. De voorgevel is asymmetrisch van opzet met aan de rechterzijde de winkelpui, bekroond door een forse topgevel. Ter linkerzijde een vierruits kruisvenster, waarvan de onderlichten kunnen openslaan en de bovenlichten een kleine roedenverdeling hebben. In de schoudergevel op de kapverdieping twee dergelijke, doch iets lagere vensters, waarboven een klein vierkant licht.
Eén zijgevel is ingebouwd doch was oorspronkelijk wel voorzien van deur en vensters; de noordelijke is, op een kruisvenster na, blind. De winkelpui heeft in het midden een paneeldeur met kleine roedenverdeling, geflankeerd door brede etalage-vensters. Het bovendeel van de pui wordt geheel ingenomen door houten bovenlichten met kleine roedenverdeling. Boven de pui een gepleisterd veld, waarop de geschilderde tekst: "C. Peerbooms Apothekerass.".
Het interieur heeft nog allerlei oorspronkelijke elementen, waaronder de boven een verlaagd plafond schuilgaande balklaag.
Waardering
De winkel is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de uitgroei van de detailhandel in het Peelgebied, het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het winkelhuis.
Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de verzorgde lokaal geinterpretereerde Neo-Renaissancevormen en als voorbeeld van het oeuvre van de architect Rooijakkers. Het is uitwendig gaaf bewaard gebleven, inwendig tot op zekere hoogte.

Description
The building has a roughly T-shaped floor plan, comprises one storey, partly one-and-a-half storeys, and is covered by gabled roofs with tuile du nord tiles. The façades are built in brick and articulated with rendered bands. At the level of the floor and the roof ornamental wall anchors are fitted. The front façade has an asymmetrical layout with the shop front on the right side, crowned by a substantial gable. On the left side a four-pane cross window, of which the lower lights can open and the upper lights have small glazing bars. In the shoulder gable on the roof storey two similar, though slightly lower windows, above which a small square light.
One side façade is built in but originally was provided with door and windows; the northern one is, except for a cross window, blank. The shop front has in the centre a panel door with small glazing bars, flanked by broad shop-window panes. The upper part of the front is entirely taken up by wooden fanlights with small glazing bars. Above the front a rendered field, on which the painted text: "C. Peerbooms Apothekerass.".
The interior still has various original elements, including the floor hidden above a lowered ceiling.
Valuation
The shop is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical importance as an example of socio-economic development, in particular the growth of retail trade in the Peel region; it is also of importance as an example of the typological development of the shop-house.
It has architectural-historical importance because of the carefully locally interpreted Neo-Renaissance forms and as an example of the oeuvre of architect Rooijakkers. It has been preserved externally intact, internally to a certain extent.
