Omschrijving
R.K. Kerk van St. Willebrordus. Gotische kruisbasiliek met vijf- zijdig gesloten koor en westtoren. Omstreeks 1460 het koor en het transept gebouwd aan een ouder schip en een vlak opgaande toren uit omstreeks 1400. De kerk onderging in 1557 reparaties na stormschade, opnieuw in 1619. Tijdens de naasting in 1648 werd een deel van de inventaris een reeks heiligenbeelden uit omstreeks 1500 en een marianum, naar de kerk van Venray overgebracht, waar zij thans nog zijn. 1737 torenbrand, waarna een lagere spits gebouwd. In 1801 de kerk aan de rooms-katholieken overgedragen; in 1881-82 ingrijpende restauratie door P.J.H. Cuypers waarbij van het schip alleen de kolommen en scheibogen in een nieuw, hoger schip met bredere zijbeuken, behouden werden. Het koor en dwarspand zijn overkluisd door net- en stergewelven, waarvan die in de noordarm pas in 1881 aangebracht na instorting van het oorspronkelijke, eenvoudiger gewelf. Grote spitsboogvensters in de sluitgevels van het transept. Thans in restauratie, waarbij onder het schip muurwerk van een romaanse kerk en overblijfselen van het oxaal (?) gevonden zijn, tegen de transeptgevels inwendig sporen van muurschilderingen en oude, dichtgemetselde toegangen. Een klok met als opschrift: F.HENRICUS PETERS PRIOR CONVENTUS SANC'TI NICOLAI VENLONAE 1720 (prior van het St. Nicolaasklooster te Venlo - ALEXIUS IULLIEN ME FECIT; in reliëf een Kruisiging, Maria en St. Nicolaas en het wapen van het klooster. Van oorsprong tweeklaviers orgel gemaakt door F.C. Smits in 1838. In 1881 omgebouwd en uitgebreid door L.A. van Nistelrooy en A. Kuyte. In 1954 gerestaureerd en uitgebreid door fa. Elbertse. Klokkenstoel met gelui bestaande uit vier klokken waarvan een klok van Joseph Petit, 1742, diam. 125 cm, en een klok van A. Jullien, 1720, diam. 53 cm en twee moderne klokken.

Description
R.C. Church of St. Willebrordus. Gothic cruciform basilica with five-sided closed choir and west tower. Around 1460 the choir and transept were built adjoining an older nave and a flat-rising tower from around 1400. The church underwent repairs in 1557 following storm damage, again in 1619. During the seizure in 1648 part of the inventory, a series of sacred images from around 1500 and a marianum, were transferred to the church of Venray, where they remain to this day. 1737 tower fire, after which a lower spire was built. In 1801 the church was transferred to the Roman Catholics; in 1881-82 comprehensive restoration by P.J.H. Cuypers during which only the columns and arches of the nave were retained in a new, higher nave with wider side aisles. The choir and transept are vaulted with net and star vaults, those in the north arm only added in 1881 after the collapse of the original, simpler vault. Large pointed-arch windows in the closure gables of the transept. Currently under restoration, during which Romanesque masonry of a church and remains of the oxaal (?) have been found beneath the nave, against the transept gables internally traces of wall paintings and old, bricked-up entrances. A bell with the inscription: F.HENRICUS PETERS PRIOR CONVENTUS SANC'TI NICOLAI VENLONAE 1720 (prior of the St. Nicholas convent in Venlo - ALEXIUS IULLIEN ME FECIT; in relief a Crucifixion, Mary and St. Nicholas and the coat of arms of the convent. Originally a two-manual organ made by F.C. Smits in 1838. In 1881 rebuilt and enlarged by L.A. van Nistelrooy and A. Kuyte. In 1954 restored and enlarged by Elbertse firm. Bell tower with a carillon consisting of four bells, one bell by Joseph Petit, 1742, diam. 125 cm, and one bell by A. Jullien, 1720, diam. 53 cm and two modern bells.
