Inleiding
VASTE BRUG van het balkbrugtype gelegen over de Oude Wijmers, die na de brug overgaat in het Damsterdiep. De brug is gebouwd omstreeks 1930 en vertoont kenmerken van de Amsterdamse School-stijl.
De massieve betonnen brug ligt aan de zuidkant van het Damsterdiep in het dorp Garrelsweer en is beeldbepalend door haar ruimtelijke dominantie.
Omschrijving
VASTE BRUG uitgevoerd in beton met een onderbouw van gewapend betonbalken en platen waarover een rijdek van asfalt is gelegd. Het brugdek rust op betonnen landhoofden. Aan weerszijden zijn gepleisterde betonnen brugleuningen geplaatst waarin opengewerkte keperbogen die rusten op een naar voren springend basement.

Vaste betonnen brug van algemeen belang vanwege architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde:

FIXED BRIDGE executed in concrete with a substructure of reinforced concrete beams and slabs over which a road deck of asphalt is laid. The bridge deck rests on concrete abutments. On both sides plastered concrete bridge railings have been placed in which open-work herringbone arches rest on a forward-projecting base.
