Inleiding.
Het JACHTHUIS BOSCHLUST werd gebouwd in 1900-1901 naar ontwerp van architect H.J.G.F. van Ewijk in opdracht van W.F.C.J. Eerens in Chaletstijl. Eerens was de directeur van de rijksbelastingen in Den Bosch. Nadien waren de broeders van St. Louis er langere tijd gehuisvest, heden is het pand in gebruik als woonhuis.
Omschrijving.
Het tweelaagse vrijstaande pand heeft een vrijwel L-vormige plattegrond en een samengesteld dak met rode verbeterde hollandse dakpannen. De gevels zijn gepleisterd en wit geschilderd, de bakstenen speklagen en hanekammen boven de ramen zijn rood geschilderd. Het meest representatief is de naar de tuin toegekeerde zuidgevel, waarachter zich de woonkamer bevindt. Rechts van het midden is er een breed vooruitspringend gedeelte onder zadeldak met standvinken. Links hiervan bevinden zich twee schuifvensters met kleine roedenverdeling in de bovenlichten, onder hanekam en met luiken waarop diabolobeschildering. Hier boven twee lagere schuifvensters met luiken, met daarboven direct de naar de hoek toe iets geknikte kroonlijst op geprofileerde klosjes, waar boven het grote piramidevormige dak met bolpiron. In de bouwmassa rechts van de risaliet op de begane grond een schuifraam en daarboven een kleiner raam, direct onder het lessenaardak aldaar. Onder het schuifraam op de begane grond bevindt zich een hardstenen gevelsteen met opschrift: H.A.F.M.I. Eerens-de Ram 19 april 1900. De risaliet met topgevel onder zadeldak heeft aan de voorzijde een hardstenen trap waarop openslaande deuren uitkomen. Het bovenlicht met kleine roeden hiervan is getoogd, evenals dat van het gekoppelde schuifvenster erboven. Boven dit raam is een hardstenen gevelsteen geplaatst waarop Bosch-lust anno 1900 staat. De linkerzijde van de risaliet bevat een schuifvenster op de begane grond, daar boven een balkon met siersnijwerk en deur. De rechterzijde van de risaliet, de oostgevel, bevat vensters en de hoofdingang. Deze is geplaatst in de hoek, waar het venster met gevelsteen zit. De Jugendstil paneeldeur heeft een dito smeedijzeren deurrooster en een bovenlicht met kleine roedenverdeling. De rest van de oostgevel is blind. De noordgevel heeft aan weerskanten twee schuifvensters met luiken op de begane grond. Rechts boven is een gedecoreerd houten afdakje waar oorspronkelijk een klok hing, links boven een klein schuifvenster. In het midden, waar de trappartij achter schuilgaat, twee verspringend geplaatste kleine vensters en een groot kruisvenster met glas-in-lood op de verdieping. De westgevel is grotendeels blind. Links is er een paneeldeur die toegang geeft tot de keuken, daar boven een klein schuifvenster.
Achter de hoofdingang ligt een hal met kussenpaneeldeuren naar de diverse kamers, waarin diverse oorspronkelijke marmeren schouwen. Onder meer één van wit marmer in de zijkamer rechts van de deur en een hoekschouw in zwart en wit marmer in de voorkamer aan de zuidgevel. In de voorkamer zijn hoge bovenkasten geplaatst, het plafond is voorzien van een profielrand. Ook de vensterbanken hebben profielranden en een borstwering met kussenpanelen. Een bordestrap leidt naar de verdieping. De houten sierbalusters zijn gedeoreerd met knopvormen. In het grote kruisvenster dat de trap verlicht zijn in de bovenste twee panelen twee familiewapens aangebracht. In de grote slaapkamer in de zuidoostelijke kant bevindt zich een hoekschouw van bruin/beige marmer.
Waardering.
Het voormalige jachthuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een ruimtelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van landhuizen in de bosrijke omgeving van de stad en is van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het jachthuis rond 1900. Het is architectuurhistorisch van belang wegens stijl en ornamentiek. Most representative is the south facade facing the garden, behind which the living room is located. To the right of the centre is a broad projecting section under a gabled roof with bargeboards. To the left of this are two sash windows with small glazing bars in the fanlights, under cock comb and with shutters decorated with diablo painting. Above these two lower sash windows with shutters, with directly above to the corner the slightly angled cornice on moulded blocks, above which the large pyramidal roof with ball finial. In the building mass to the right of the risalit on the ground floor a sash window and above it a smaller window, directly under the catslide roof there. Below the sash window on the ground floor is an ashlar wall stone with inscription: H.A.F.M.I. Eerens-de Ram 19 April 1900. The risalit with gable under gabled roof has a stone staircase at the front onto which French doors open. The fanlight with small glazing bars of this is arched, as is that of the coupled sash window above it. Above this window an ashlar wall stone has been placed reading Boschlust anno 1900.
