The register's description

Inleiding.

Introduction.

The PARSONAGE no. 5 was built in 1869 in a style reminiscent of Eclecticism. The small extension under a gabled roof dates from around 1900, an extension of the main building on the rear side and a garage on the front were realised in the nineteen twenties.

Description.

The two-storey building has five bays, placed under a hipped roof with old Dutch tiles. The facades are built of brick with a plastered plinth and cornice, the window sills of the four-pane sash windows with undivided fanlight are of hard stone. Above the windows of ground floor and first floor are wooden roller shutter boxes. Centrally placed is the entrance section with varnished wooden double doors, with oval windows and decorative motif. In the fanlight is an Art Deco stained glass window with a representation of St. Martin and the beggar. On the left and right on the corners of the building are facade stones. On the left it reads: "C.J. v. L.R. Heyen, pastor 1869" and on the right: "D. v.d. Eijnden emeritus pastor 1869". The right side gable has two six-pane sash windows one above the other, the left side gable has above the garage a six-pane sash window. The single-storey extension on the right is placed under a gabled roof, this still serves as a scullery. On the front there is a sash window with roller shutter box, the windows in the other facades are enlarged. On the left side is a garage with carport extension under a flat roof. The wooden posts of the carport display Expressionistic motifs. The rear gable overlooks a large garden with among other features a large copper beech.

The interior was originally entirely crossed by a broad passage; since the extension this abuts the rear building. The passage is paved with red-clouded and black tiles in geometric motif. The walls are articulated by pilasters with circles and panels; the ceilings are provided with stucco rosettes. To the right of the entrance is a small room with marble chimney, connected with a back room with wooden built-in cupboards from the time of construction. To the left of the entrance is a very large room-en-suite with in both rooms a marble chimney and in the back room a large stucco rosette. Behind this is the later added conservatory. Behind the aforementioned cupboard room is the oval spiral staircase with cast iron balusters. Behind the staircase is the renovated kitchen with access to the cellar with barrel vault. Via the kitchen one enters the scullery, provided with an Art Nouveau tile pattern on the floor. The first floor has the same plan as below; the oval spiral staircase leads to the attic with wooden roof truss structure. On the sides the four brick chimney flues are carried alongside each other to emerge in the two chimneys on the corners of the ridge.

Evaluation.

The parsonage is of general interest. The building has cultural-historical significance as an example of the development of Catholicism and is of significance as an example of the typological development of the rural parsonage. It has been well preserved in its integrity.
