Omschrijving
Inleiding.
Aan de zuidoostelijke zijde van de Kerkstraat staat, direct aan de straat, de voormalige LEERLOOIERIJ Vermeulen, daterend uit omstreeks 1900. Naast de vrijstaande looierij staat het voormalige looierswoonhuis, dat sterk gewijzigd is en buiten de bescherming valt.
Omschrijving.
Het drielaags bedrijfsgebouw met kapverdieping heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak met fors overstek en oud Hollandse pannen. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in handvorm baksteen. Boven het nathuis, dat in de oostelijke en westelijke gevel verschillende kleine vierruits houten lichten heeft, bestaan de gevels grotendeels uit gepotdekseld op elkaar liggende windluiken. In de oostelijke gevel tussen de drie lichten een opgeklampte getoogde deur; de westelijke gevel is op een reeks van zes lichten na, blind. De straatgevel is geheel opgetrokken uit baksteen en voorzien van zware smeedijzeren muurankers. Op de begane grond twee blindnissen, op de eerste en tweede etage, alsmede de kapverdieping, een getoogde, opgeklampte poort, geflankeerd door tweeruits lichten. De oorspronkelijke inventaris van het gebouw is verdwenen, maar de indeling is bewaard gebleven. Op de begane grond zijn verschillende, thans in onbruik geraakte kantoorruimtes aangebracht, met onder meer een brievenbus en een eenvoudige kachelschouw.

On the southeastern side of Kerkstraat stands, directly on the street, the former TANNERY Vermeulen, dating from around 1900. Next to the free-standing tannery stands the former tanner's dwelling house, which has been greatly altered and falls outside the protection.

The three-storey business building with roof chamber has a rectangular floor plan and is covered by a gabled roof with substantial overhang and old Dutch tiles. The facades are built of handmade brick. Above the wet-house, which has various small four-pane wooden lights in the eastern and western facade, the facades consist largely of weatherboarded ventilation louvers piled on top of each other. In the eastern facade between the three lights a clamped relieved door; the western facade is blind except for a series of six lights. The street facade is built entirely of brick and provided with heavy wrought-iron wall anchors. On the ground floor two blind recesses, on the first and second storey, as well as the roof chamber, a relieved, clamped gate, flanked by two-pane lights. The original inventory of the building has disappeared, but the layout has been preserved. On the ground floor various office spaces, now disused, have been installed, including a letterbox and a simple stove flue.
