Inleiding.
Direct ten zuiden van de voormalige looierij staat het bijbehorende WOONHUIS (2) in Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl, daterend uit omstreeks 1895. Het vrijstaande gebouw wordt door een smalle steeg aan de noordelijke en zuidelijke zijde afgescheiden van de aangrenzende bebouwing. Het symmetrisch opgezette huis, dat middels een kleine verbindingsgang op de etage met de looierij is verbonden, staat direct aan de straat. In de jaren '20 is de voordeur vervangen.
Omschrijving.
Het eenlaags pand heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond (met uitbouw aan de achterzijde) en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak, voorzien van kruispannen. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in baksteen en voorzien van vlechtingen. De symmetrische straatgevel telt vijf vensterassen en is voorzien van een hardstenen dorpellijst en gepleisterde plint, sluitstenen en dito fries. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde houten goot. De via een hardstenen trede bereikbare, getoogde paneeldeur met bovenlicht wordt aan beide zijden geflankeerd door eveneens getoogde T-schuifvensters, voorzien van ingebouwde houten rolluiken. In de zuidelijke zijgevel ter linkerzijde op de begane grond een zesruits schuifvenster, en twee kleinere zesruiters op de verdieping. Ook in de noordelijke zijgevel is op de verdieping een dergelijk raam toegepast. Waarschijnlijk is een tweede exemplaar ten behoeve van de verbindingsgang naar de looierij uitgebroken. Op de nok van het dak staan, ter plaatse van de zijgevels, twee schoorstenen met siermetselwerk. In het dakschild een drietal gietijzeren daklichten. Het interieur heeft een globaal symmetrische plattegrond met doorlopende centrale gang. Tegen de achtergevel staan een kleine, binnen de bescherming vallende aanbouw, haaks op het hoofdgebouw, onder een zadeldak, gedekt met kruispannen.
Waardering.
Het complex is van algemeen belang vanwege de volgende waarden: cultuurhistorische waarden: het complex heeft belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling in het zuiden van Noord-Brabant; het is van belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de technische en typologische ontwikkeling van de hoogbouw voor de leerlooierij in een landelijke gemeente rond 1900; architectuurhistorische waarden: het complex is van belang wegens de nog steeds afleesbare samenhang van het exterieur en het interieur en vanwege de relatie tussen de looierswoning en het bedrijfsgebouw; ensemblewaarden: het complex is van bijzondere betekenis voor het aanzien van de streek; zeldzaamheid: het complex is als voorbeeld van een middelgrote ambachtelijke leerlooierij betrekkelijk zeldzaam geworden; gaafheid/herkenbaarheid: het complex is van belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en interieur.

Introduction.
Directly south of the former tannery stands the associated DWELLING HOUSE (2) in Craftsman-Traditional style, dating from around 1895. The detached building is separated from the adjacent buildings by a narrow alley on the northern and southern sides. The symmetrically arranged house, which is connected by a small connecting passage on the storey to the tannery, stands directly on the street. In the 1920s the front door was replaced.
Description.
The single-storey building has a rectangular floor plan (with extension to the rear) and is covered by a gabled roof, provided with cross tiles. The facades are constructed in brickwork and provided with bond patterns. The symmetrical street facade has five window bays and is provided with a stone lintel and plastered plinth, keystones and matching frieze. The facade is finished with a moulded wooden gutter. The arched panel door with fanlight, accessible via a stone step, is flanked on both sides by likewise arched T-sliding windows, fitted with built-in wooden roller shutters. In the southern side facade to the left on the ground floor a six-pane sash window, and two smaller six-paned windows on the storey. Also in the northern side facade, on the storey a similar window is used. Probably a second example was broken out for the connecting passage to the tannery. On the ridge of the roof, at the location of the side facades, are two chimneys with decorative brickwork. In the roof slope three cast-iron roof lights. The interior has a broadly symmetrical floor plan with a continuous central hallway. Against the rear facade stands a small, within the protected area, extension, set at right angles to the main building, under a gabled roof, tiled with cross tiles.

The complex is of general interest because of the following values: cultural-historical values: the complex is important as a particular expression of socio-economic development in the south of North Brabant; it is important as a particular expression of the technical and typological development of high-rise construction for leather tanning in a rural municipality around 1900; architectural-historical values: the complex is important because of the still legible coherence of the exterior and interior and because of the relationship between the tanner's dwelling and the business building; ensemble values: the complex is of particular significance for the character of the region; rarity: the complex has become relatively rare as an example of a medium-sized craftsman leather tannery; integrity/recognisability: the complex is important because of the architectural integrity of the exterior and interior.
