MACHINEHUIS uit 1891 voor de STOOMMACHINE. Mogelijk gerealiseerd naar plannen van de Tilburgse architect E. Fremau.
Omschrijving
Het stoommachinehuis op rechthoekig grondvlak (oppervlakte ca. 144 m2) bestaat uit een bouwlaag. Het wordt gedekt door een plat dak gedeeltelijk voorzien van een glazen lichtkap. De ingang van het stoommachinehuis, bestaat uit een dubbele deur met een rondboogvormig bovenlicht met een geometrische roedeverdeling. De grenenhouten deuren zijn afgehangen aan smeedijzeren gehengen. Het machinehuis is bereikbaar via een ijzeren steektrap met bordes. Het opgaand werk van het machinehuis bestaat uit rode handgevormde baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband. Het interieur draagt kenmerken uit de bouwtijd, maar is aangetast door een aantal buizen en leidingen. De vloerafwerking is van granitowerk. De wanden hebben een lambrisering van witte, liggende rechthoekige facettegels. In het machinehuis bevindt zich een vrijwel complete stoommachine afkomstig van de machinefabriek Werkspoor (Amsterdam).
Waardering
Stoommachinehuis en de daarin bewaarde machine zijn van algemeen belang als één van de drie samenstellende complexonderdelen. Er is een sterke functionele relatie met de naastgelegen schoorsteen. Bovendien heeft dit onderdeel bijzondere waarde vanwege de nog aanwezige machine, als krachtbron één van de belangrijkste onderdelen van een fabriekscomplex en derhalve van grote cultuurhistorische waarde.

Description
The steam engine house on a rectangular ground plan (area approx. 144 m2) consists of one storey. It is covered by a flat roof partially provided with a glazed light roof. The entrance of the steam engine house consists of a double door with a round-arched fanlight with a geometric glazing bars pattern. The pine wooden doors are hung on wrought-iron hinges. The engine house is accessible via an iron staircase with landing. The masonry of the engine house consists of red hand-formed bricks laid in Flemish bond. The interior bears characteristics from the building period, but is affected by a number of pipes and conduits. The floor finish is of granite work. The walls have a lining of white, horizontal rectangular faceted tiles. In the engine house there is a virtually complete steam engine from the machine factory Werkspoor (Amsterdam).
Valuation
The steam engine house and the machine preserved in it are of general importance as one of the three constituent components of the complex. There is a strong functional relationship with the adjacent chimney. Moreover, this component has special value because of the machine still present, as a power source one of the most important parts of a factory complex and therefore of great cultural-historical value.
