Inleiding.
Voormalig FABRIKANTENHUIS met aangebouwde FABRIEKSWINKEL in Eclectische stijl, gebouwd voor de fabrikantenfamilie G. van Besouw-van Lisdonk in circa 1875. In de winkel werden door de fabrikant levensmiddelen en manifacturen verkocht aan zijn werknemers. Het object ligt links en rechts ingeklemd tussen belendende bebouwing op een rechthoekig perceel met de voorgevel aan de lintbebouwde straat in de kern van Goirle tegenover de St. Janskerk. Aan de westkant in 1996 uitgebreid. De fabriek stond aan de overkant van de straat.
Omschrijving.
Het tweelaagse huis met zolderverdieping is gedekt met een zadeldak voorzien van blauwe oud-Hollandse pannen. De nok ligt parallel aan de straat. De symmetrische voorgevel bestaat uit vijf traveeën. De onderpui heeft in het midden een voordeur met snijwerk en bovenlicht, die geflankeerd wordt door twee schuifvensters met afgeronde bovenhoeken. In de bovenpui bevinden zich vijf getoogde schuifvensters met zesruitsverdeling. Het opgaande werk van het huis bestaat uit een handgevormde rood/paarse baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband. De voorgevel heeft bovendien een cementen plint, doorlopende lekdorpels bezijden de vensters, een cordonlijst en een fries met een gesneden houten kroonlijst, die gedragen wordt door twee aan twee gekoppelde cementen consoles. Een oeil de boeuf in een kapel op de zolderverdieping in de middentravee doorbreekt het rechte fries en kroonlijst. De kapel heeft een kroonlijst bestaande uit een cirkelsegment. Achter de woonkamer bevindt zich een uitgebouwde gemetselde serre eveneens gedekt door een plat dak. De rechterzijgevel is blind uitgevoerd. De linker bevat op de zolder een getoogd zesruits-schuifvenster. Inwendig heeft het huis gestucte plafonds met lijstwerk en gegoten reliëfs. Het plafond van de rechtervoorkamer heeft florale motieven en extra zware stuclijsten met hoekstukken. Tussen de voor- en achterkamer een combinatie van schuif- en draaideuren voorzien van geslepen spiegelglas. Drie schouwen in het huis met schoorsteenmantels, waarvan twee in zwart marmer en een in comblanchien. Trap met twee bordessen, waarvan een met lichtkoker in de zijgevel. Voor het trappenhuis een dubbele deur met bovenlicht voorzien van rechte en ovale glasroeden. Gangvloer met achthoekige en vierkante tegels met sterpatroon en golfrand in de kleuren blauw, wit, grijs en zwart. Keuken met originele schouw en hamkasten. Kelder met spekkuipen en aparte wijnopslag met nissen. De eenlaagse voormalige winkel, bevindt zich aan de westkant van het huis. Het is gedekt door een plat dak met aan de voor- en achterkant schilden voorzien van blauwe oud-Hollandse pannen. De voorgevel is drie traveeën breed. De voordeur met bovenlicht heeft panelen en gietijzeren doorzichtroosters met mannenkop. In het bovenlicht een ijzeren geometrische roedenverdeling. De voorgevel heeft rechte en de achtergevel getoogde zesruits-schuifvensters. De deur in de achtergevel is het oorspronkelijke buitentoilet van beide huizen. Het opgaande metselwerk komt overeen met dat van het hoofdhuis. Met uitzondering van de deuren en kozijnen is het interieur vernieuwd.
Waardering.
Het voormalige fabrikantenhuis met de fabriekswinkel zijn van algemeen belang. Ze hebben cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaaleconomische ontwikkeling van de textielnijverheid en de gedwongen winkelnering in Noord-Brabant. Between the front and rear room a combination of sash and swing doors fitted with cut mirror glass. Three fireplaces in the house with chimney surrounds, two in black marble and one in comblanchien. Staircase with two landings, one of which with a light shaft in the side gable. In front of the stairwell a double door with fanlight fitted with straight and oval glass rods. Gangway floor with octagonal and square tiles with star pattern and wave border in the colours blue, white, grey and black. Kitchen with original fireplace and ham cupboards. Basement with lard tubs and separate wine storage with niches. The single-storey former shop is situated on the west side of the house. It is covered by a flat roof with on the front and rear side gables furnished with blue old-Dutch tiles. The front facade is three bays wide. The front door with fanlight has panels and cast-iron perforated grilles with male head. In the fanlight an iron geometric glazing bar pattern.
