Inleiding
RIOOLGEMAAL met BRUG, gebouwd ca. 1925-1935 in interbellum-architectuur met invloeden van het traditionalisme en het zakelijk expressionisme (orthogonale bouwvolumes, Noors metselverband, strookvensters van glazen bouwstenen, korfboogvormig afgesloten brugdoorgangen met natuurstenen geboortestenen). Het gebouw bestaat uit een bakstenen brug en een bakstenen huisje op een brede onderbouw. In het huisje bevindt zich de regelapparatuur voor het rioolgemaal in de onderbouw. De pompen staan opgesteld in een betonnen kelder. Het rioolgemaal is gesitueerd in een langgerekte waterloop, die ligt ingeklemd tussen de spoordijk (zuidzijde) en de Schavenmolenstraat (noordzijde). De waterloop zal destijds gegraven zijn voor de waterhuishouding van de nieuwe woonwijk in dit laag gelegen broeklandgebied.
Omschrijving
Het RIOOLGEMAAL bestaat uit een brug en een huisje op een brede onderbouw. De brug en de onderbouw hebben te samen een T-vormig grondplan. Het muurwerk van rood/bruine baksteen is in Noors verband gemetseld. Het éénlaags huisje op rechthoekig grondplan bevindt zich links op de onderbouw. De gevels van rode baksteen zijn in Noors verband gemetseld. Het huisje heeft een licht ingeknikt schilddak met de nok haaks op de voorgevel. Het dak is belegd met shingles (oorspronkelijk romaanse pannen) en heeft een fors overstek op klossen. De symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel (noordzijde) heeft een stalen deur tussen twee verticale vensterstroken van glazen bouwstenen. De zijgevels zijn voorzien van hoog in de muur geplaatste horizontale vensterstroken van glazen bouwstenen. Tegen de rechter zijgevel bevindt zich een bordje "12.00 + NAP". De achtergevel heeft een zesruits vensterstrookje. De onderbouw wordt afgesloten door een rollaag en heeft aan de rechter zijde een lage, gesloten balustrade.
De BRUG bestaat uit een eenvoudig bruggehoofd aan de noordzijde en een overspanning van twee korfboogvormig afgesloten doorgangen met natuurstenen geboortestenen. Het smalle voetpad over de brug wordt aan weerszijden geflankeerd door een lage gesloten balustrade. De balustrades worden afgesloten door een rollaag, waarop een ijzeren buisleuning. De brug is afgezet door een smeedijzeren draaihek (verticale en horizontale spijlen) met over de balustrade uitzwenkende zijden.

The SEWAGE PUMPING STATION consists of a bridge and a building on a broad base. The bridge and the base together have a T-shaped ground plan. The masonry of red/brown brick is laid in Norwegian bond. The single-storey building on rectangular ground plan is situated on the left of the base. The facades of red brick are laid in Norwegian bond. The building has a slightly arched hipped roof with the ridge perpendicular to the front facade. The roof is covered with shingles (originally Romanesque tiles) and has a substantial overhang on brackets. The symmetrically arranged front facade (north side) has a steel door between two vertical strip windows of glass bricks.
