PASTORIE, gebouwd in 1873 in Neo-Gotische stijl. Het pand is heden in gebruik als woonhuis.
Omschrijving
De hoofdmassa van het eenlaagse gebouw is rechthoekig, het zadeldak is gedekt met leien in Maasdekking, met bovenop een dakruiter met spits. Aan beide zijden bevindt zich een lagere, eenlaagse aanbouw onder zadeldak, rechts gedekt met muldenpannen, links met oudhollandse dakpannen. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen.
Het pand is symmetrisch van opzet. Tussen de hoeklisenen en de rialerende middentravee met topgevel bevinden zich aan beide zijden twee getoogde achtruits schuifvensters met hardsteen dorpels. De plint is eveneens van hardsteen. Tussen de lisenen een drievoudige baksteen sierlijst in reliëf. In de risaliet een vleugeldeur met cassetten en twee staande ramen waarvoor smeedijzeren sierroosters.
Het getoogde bovenlicht is voorzien van een figuratieve glas-in-loodvoorstelling; voor het raam een ijzeren sierrooster met cirkelpatronen. In de topgevel een getoogd zesruits schuifvenster en een rond raam met spaakvormige roeden. De trappen hebben een geprofileerde kraagsteen en hardsteen gekanteelde afdekplaten, de bovenste met een piron. Op de nok een opengewerkte vierkante dakruiter met driepassen en spits met haan. De zijgevels rechts en links hebben drie getoogde zesruits schuifvensters en een rond raam in de nok. De haakse aanbouwen hebben hoeklisenen doorgaand in de puntgevel als klimmend segmentboogfries en een hardsteen nokbekroning. Links een achtruits stolpvenster, rechts een getoogde poort met houten deuren. Zijgevels met drie getoogde achtruits schuifvensters. De achtergevel van de hoofdmassa heeft in het midden een risaliet met deur en aan weerskanten twee achtruits vensters, met deels veranderde indeling.
Het huis is geheel vrij gelegen en aan alle zijden omringd door een siertuin, links achter met een boomgaard met fruitbomen en struiken.
Waardering
De pastorie met tuin en boomgaard is van algemeen belang. Zij heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme in het zuiden en is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de landelijke dorpspastorie. Zij heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de stijl en de verzorgde detaillering en de harmonische verhoudingen. Zij heeft ensemblewaarden vanwege de ligging, verbonden met de ontwikkeling van het vroegere kerkdorp Kessel. Zij is als landelijke pastorie betrekkelijk zeldzaam.

The main mass of the single-storey building is rectangular, the gabled roof is covered with slate in Maas coverage, with on top a ridge turret with spire. On both sides there is a lower, single-storey outbuilding under gabled roof, on the right covered with pantiles, on the left with old Dutch roof tiles. The facades are constructed of machine-made brick.
The building is symmetrical in layout. Between the corner pilasters and the projecting central bay with gable are on both sides two arched four-pane sash windows with hardstone sills. The plinth is also of hardstone. Between the pilasters a threefold brick ornamental moulding in relief. In the risalit a casement door with cassette panels and two tall windows before which wrought-iron ornamental screens.
The arched fanlight is provided with a figurative stained-glass representation; before the window an iron ornamental bar with circular patterns. In the gable an arched six-pane sash window and a round window with spoke-shaped bars. The steps have a moulded corbel stone and hardstone chamfered cap plates, the uppermost with a cramp. On the ridge an openwork square ridge turret with trefoils and spire with weathercock. The side facades right and left have three arched six-pane sash windows and a round window at the ridge. The rectangular outbuildings have corner pilasters continuing into the pointed gable as a climbing segmental-arch frieze and a hardstone ridge coping. On the left a four-pane gable window, on the right an arched gateway with wooden doors. Side facades with three arched four-pane sash windows. The rear facade of the main mass has in the centre a risalit with door and on either side two four-pane windows, with partly altered arrangement.
The house is completely free-standing and surrounded on all sides by an ornamental garden, behind on the left with an orchard with fruit trees and shrubs.
Valuation
The rectory with garden and orchard is of general importance. It has cultural-historical importance as a particular expression of the development of Catholicism in the south and is also of importance for the typological development of the rural village rectory. It has architectural-historical value because of the style and careful detailing and harmonious proportions. It has ensemble values because of its location, connected with the development of the former church village of Kessel. It is relatively rare as a rural rectory.
