Inleiding
WOONHUIS, gebouwd in 1885 in Eclecticistische stijl, met daar achter een bijbehorende schuur uit diezelfde tijd. In 1919 volgde een verbouwing waarbij het rechterdeel, dat eerst in gebruik was als schuur, geschikt werd gemaakt voor bewoning.
Omschrijving
Het onderkelderde eenlaagse dubbele woonhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, gevels van machinale baksteen en een zadeldak met kruispannen en de nok parallel aan de straat. De voorgevel, die zes traveeën telt, bezit gietijzeren sierankers, de zijgevels rechte steekankers. De voorgevel heeft een horizontale geleding door een geprofileerde hardstenen cordonlijst onder de vensters en een gepleisterde speklaag ter hoogte van de wisseldorpels. De getoogde T-vensters hebben een geprofileerde stucomlijsting. De gevel wordt verticaal geleed en de twee woningen visueel gescheiden door een liseen en hoeklisenen, onder de gootlijst uitkomend in een enkele en dubbele muizetandlijst. Tussen de twee vensters links bevindt zich het smalle rondboogportiek van het huis op nummer 17. De entree is risalerend geblokt gepleisterd en loopt door tot in de kroonlijst. Via zes treden bereikt men de paneeldeur. Deze heeft in het bovenpaneel twee staande gietijzeren roosters. De entree van het huis nummer 15 bevindt zich in de rechter zijgevel. Tussen twee T-vensters bevindt zich de paneeldeur, gelijk aan nummer 17. Op zolder, onder de overkragende daklijst op houten klossen, twee T-vensters. In de zijgevel links is het middenvenster dichtgemetseld, verder indeling als rechts.
De achtergevel is ingedeeld als de voorgevel, maar zonder decoratieve elementen of indeling met lisenen.
Voor het huis staan vier leilinden, achter het huis een boomgaard en een meidoornhaag.
Waardering
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van Maaskant en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de gebouwen voor agrarische bedrijfsvoering. Architectuurhistorisch is het pand van belang vanwege de ornamentiek en de opbouw en als voorbeeld van de regionale verwerking van Eclectische stijlvormen ter verhoging van de representativiteit. Verder is het type, vooral vanwege het hoge souterrain uitzonderlijk.
Het is belangrijk vanwege de gaafheid van het exterieur en is als zodanig zeldzaam.

Description
The undercellarred single-storey double dwelling has a rectangular ground plan, facades of machine-made brick and a gabled roof with interlocking tiles and the ridge parallel to the street. The front facade, which comprises six bays, features cast-iron ornamental wall anchors; the side facades have straight angle anchors. The front facade is horizontally articulated by a moulded stone string course beneath the windows and a plastered band at the height of the relieving bricks. The round-arched T-windows have a moulded stucco frame. The facade is divided vertically and the two dwellings visually separated by pilasters and corner pilasters, terminating beneath the cornice in single and double dentil moulding. Between the two windows on the left is situated the narrow round-arched porch of the house numbered 17. The entrance is recessed and rendered with ashlar blocking and extends through to the cornice. Six steps lead to the panelled door. This door has in the upper panel two vertical cast-iron grilles. The entrance of house number 15 is situated in the right side gable. Between two T-windows is the panelled door, identical to number 17. On the attic floor, beneath the projecting roof line on wooden corbels, two T-windows. In the left side gable the central window is blocked up; otherwise the arrangement is as on the right.
The rear facade is arranged as the front facade, but without decorative elements or division by pilasters.
In front of the house stand four linden trees; behind the house an orchard and a hawthorn hedge.
Valuation
The dwelling is of general interest. The building is of cultural-historical importance as an example of the socio-economic development of the Maaskant and as an example of the typological development of buildings for agricultural enterprise. From an architectural-historical perspective the property is of importance on account of its ornamentation and design and as an example of the regional treatment of Eclectic style forms to enhance its representativeness. Furthermore, the type is exceptional, particularly on account of the high basement storey.
It is important for the integrity of its exterior and is as such rare.
