Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
FARM with adjoining barns, dating from the last quarter of the 19th century and later extensions. The description of the facades will consider as order first the broad street facade with front house and adjoining three barns as a whole, then the left side facade and finally the right side facade.
Description
The farm is positioned with the front house on the street and relative to the adjoining barn on the right, placed slightly further back. On the gable directly bordering the street of this barn, two further barns adjoin to the right with their facades on one building line. The middle barn concerns a, judged by its dimensions, built manure pit. The front house is covered by a composite roof lined with muted Dutch tile, with at the front an annexed curved hipped roof with a roof gable at the same height as the house. The three barns are provided with curved hipped roofs, whereby the left roof slope of the left barn, which borders the front house, is shorter and in the projecting section and the front gable is provided with a gutter that continues uninterrupted from the front house into this barn.
The symmetrically arranged FRONT FACADE of the front house contains, to the left of the central, recessed modern door with 4x2-pane fanlight, a coupled T-sash window with fanlight that is filled with imitation leaded glass lights. On the right are two sash windows of the same type. The windows are set between a cemented drip moulding and a shoulder arch under a yellow stretcher course of facing brick and provided with panel shutters. The facade has a cemented plinth containing (two ventilation grilles) and at the top a course of yellow facing brick above which a frieze adjoins with yellow and red decorative brickwork. The three-pane window (with fanlights) on the upper storey, in the central axis of the facade, is placed under the annexed broad and curved hipped roof. The T-sash window is flanked by lower ending side lights. Above this the facade is rendered.
Perpendicular to the right side of the front house is located the left wall of the barns positioned to the front. This short side contains a window with a 3x3-pane division with drip moulding, shoulder arch and course as described in the windows of the front facade. The decorative brickwork from the front house does not extend into this side; the cemented plinth continues from the front house into the street gable of the adjoining barn. The barn located on the left, covered with concrete tiles, possesses recessed part doors (with central bar), with beaded profile parts. All doors in this gable consist of beaded profile parts and are closed by a 1½ or one-brick voussoir arch in which cemented shutting and setting stones are located. On either side of the left part doors there is a cast-iron stable window of the church window type, resting on a cemented drip moulding and closed by a course. Wall anchors beside the doors indicate the position of the tie in the outer wall. Under the right roof slope drawn downward is a round-closed small door with to the right of this a arched spindle-head (tilting) window. The middle barn contains in the gable only a double part door. The left roof slope is lined with red newly improved Dutch tile while on the right a red Tuile du Nord tile with rounded edge occurs. The gable of the right barn, which is otherwise covered with muted old Dutch tile, is symmetrically arranged by the placement of the part doors under a cemented shutting stone in which '1902' in the middle, on either side a so-called church window and on the corners of the gable a stable door which is otherwise closed on the right. To the left of the left door is still a small spindle-head window. The LEFT SIDE FACADE contains three windows, with T-sash windows and shutters of the type described in the front facade. The gable also has rendering at the top. The frieze with decorative brickwork from the front facade continues toward the rear gable as well as the cemented plinth in which a basement light.
The RIGHT SIDE FACADE has three windows divided into four sections with concrete frames under the mast gutter.
Valuation
FARM with adjoining barns, dating from the last quarter of the 19th century and later extensions.
- Of architectural historical importance as a well and faithfully preserved example of the functional and typological development of the multi-gabled barn type, which occurs infrequently in this region.
- Of urban planning importance as part of the historically developed village core of Gelselaar and playing in it through its location on the important access road to the village core a major role in determining the townscape. The farm possesses in connection with the farm located on the opposite side of the Dorpsstraat, also of the multi-gabled type, an ensemble value. The farm occupies an important place in the buildings of Gelselaar, which still to a high degree reflect the original agricultural character.
- Of cultural historical value because of its distinctive appearance, which is connected with agricultural development. Moreover, the farm is significant for the history of spatial planning and for the development of urban planning thought.
