Inleiding
De oorspronkelijke DIENSTWONING van de Haagsche Maatschappij voor Gasdistributie uit 1927 in de stijl van de Interbellum-architectuur, met oorspronkelijk kenmerken van de late Amsterdamse School, is later gewijzigd in detaillering. De dienstwoning heeft in de serre een regulateurkamer en aan de straathoek een KANTOOR en toonkamer, met daarachter een WERKPLAATS met calorifère. De dienstwoning maakt deel uit van een complex waartoe ook de gashouder en het regulateurshuisje behoren.
N.B. de plaquette, met het logo van de gasmaatschappij, aan de achtergevel is in 1979 overgebracht van Loosduinen naar Naaldwijk.
Omschrijving
Eenlaagse bebouwing, opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond met een erker- en serre-uitbouw, het woonhuis onder een zadeldak, gedekt met rode verbeterde Hollandse pannen, het bedrijfsgedeelte met een plat dak. Overkragende en uitstekende bakgoten. In de kap een dakkapel. Metselwerk in grauwe baksteen in halfsteensverband met een rollaag ter aanduiding van een plint. De voorgevel op het noorden heeft in het woonhuisgedeelte een achtruits glasdeur, onder een anderhalfsteens strek, tussen smalle vierruits vensters. De verticale geleding van de deur is in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School. Rechts naast de deur bevindt zich een erker met drie ramen boven een gemetselde afzaat en onder een overkragend plat dak. Ter linkerzijde van de erker een overhoeks raam. Ramen oorspronkelijk met roedeverdeling. Op de etage drie kozijnen, oorspronkelijk met ladderroedeverdeling, met tegelonderdorpels onder anderhalfsteens strekken. Boven de middelste gaat het metselwerk over in een sierverband, een bakstenen afzaat een zeshoekig staand kozijn, anderhalfsteens strek en weer een sierverband dat doorloopt tot aan de rond beëindigde eindpan. In het bedrijfsgedeelte een oorspronkelijk vierruits ladderraam, een tweeruits glasdeur met vergelijkbare verticale geleding als de voordeur en een grote etalageruit, de ramen met bakstenen onderdorpels. De dakrand van het bedrijfsgedeelte is licht overkragend.
De oostelijke gevel van het woonhuis heeft een overhoeks raam en een aan het oog onttrokken schuifraam met glas-in-lood bovenlicht. Dakkapel met dubbel vast kozijn dat de dakrand doorbreekt.
De zuidelijke achtergevel heeft een keukenuitbouw onder een plat, overkragend dak. In de uitbouw een deur en negen staande ruiten. Hiernaast een samengesteld kozijn met een draai- en een kiepraam. Op de verdieping drie klapvensters onder anderhalfsteens strekken en een later aangebrachte plaquette met het logo van de gasmaatschappij. De calorifère heeft een eenvoudige houten deur.

Description
Single-storey building, constructed on a rectangular ground plan with a bay window and conservatory extension, the residential house under a gabled roof, covered with red improved Dutch tiles, the business section with a flat roof. Overhanging and projecting gutters. In the roof a dormer. Brickwork in grey brick in half-brick bonding with a course indicating a plinth. The front facade facing north has in the residential part a ten-pane glass door, under a one-and-a-half-brick course, between narrow four-pane windows. The vertical articulation of the door is in the style of the Amsterdam School. To the right of the door a bay window with three windows above a mortared ledge and under an overhanging flat roof. To the left of the bay window a corner window. Windows originally with glazing bars. On the storey three window frames, originally with ladder glazing bars, with tile sills under one-and-a-half-brick courses. Above the middle one the brickwork transitions into a decorative bond, a brick ledge a hexagonal standing window frame, one-and-a-half-brick course and again a decorative bond that continues to the round-ended end tile. In the business section an original four-pane ladder window, a two-pane glass door with comparable vertical articulation as the front door and a large shop window, the windows with brick sills. The roof edge of the business section is slightly overhanging.
The eastern gable of the residential house has a corner window and a hidden sash window with leaded glass fanlight. Dormer with double fixed window frame that breaks through the roof edge.
The southern rear gable has a kitchen extension under a flat, overhanging roof. In the extension a door and nine standing panes.
