Inleiding

Waardering

Introduction

The RECTORY belonging to the St. Bonifatiuskerk in Traditionalist building style with Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Gothic elements was built at the same time as the church in 1885-1886 according to the design of architect E.J. Margry. In 1939 the rectory underwent major renovation during which most of the windows were provided with new glazing, the interior was renewed and a conservatory was added on the garden side.

Description

Rectory of square plan erected in two storeys under a gabled roof and truncated hipped roof with slates in Maas covering. The facades are constructed in red brick and provided with corner pilasters and a frieze with dentil moulding; plastered spandrel panels. The facades are articulated with predominantly T-windows with stained glass in the fanlights under segmental arches and decorative brickwork in the arch fields; natural stone lintels and water drips. In the front facade (east) an asymmetrically placed (left) risalit with spout gable with on the ground floor and the upper storey two windows placed side by side under one segmental arch and at the top two round blind niches on either side of a composite window under a round-arch shaped stretcher; the window has glazing bar tracery in Neo-Gothic style corresponding to the windows of the neighbouring church. To the right of the risalit three window bays and a narrow recessed section with one window bay. At the far left is the entrance arrangement in a portico with corner column under a balcony with iron balcony railing with scrollwork, also at the porch stairs an wrought-iron railing in which Gothic quatrefoils are incorporated. The entrance is formed by the original panelled door under a segmental fanlight with wrought ironwork and above it a balcony door. In the recessed bay a second entrance arrangement at a stoop.

To the right in the rear facade a, less richly decorated, spout gable identical to the front facade and stained-glass fanlights and glass doors in the conservatory from 1939.
