Inleiding:
SCHOOLGEBOUW in Expressionistische stijl uit 1931. Het ontwerp is van architect Hanrath (Hilversum). In oorsprong een tweeklassige school, nu vierklassig. In 1956 kreeg de school de naam "Prinses Beatrix". De school is gebouwd voor de Christelijke Nationale Schoolvereniging. Een gevelsteen verwijst naar de eerste steenlegging door J.M. baron van Tuyll van Serooskerken.
De uitbreiding in het jaar 1957 vond plaats in dezelfde stijl.
De school staat met de voor- of zuidgevel aan de Stationsstraat. Ze ligt rondom vrij op het perceel.
Omschrijving:
Het object bevat een bouwlaag met een strakke symmetrische vormgeving aan de straat. Het heeft een samengestelde plattegrond onder schilddaken met dakoverstek bekroond door hoekschoorstenen. In het dak een kapel met driedeling. De ingang van de school ligt aan de westkant. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit handgevormde stenen, gemetseld in Vlaams verband met rondom een hoge plint. De klaslokalen hebben twee aan twee gekoppelde stalen roedenvensters met een zestienruits boven- en tweedelig onderlicht. Het inwendige is gewijzigd.
Waardering:
De kleine school is van algemeen baleng. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een culturele en geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de ontwikkeling van het bijzonder onderwijs in het katholieke zuiden in het begin van de twintigste eeuw.
