Omschrijving
Omschrijving onderdeel 2: PARKAANLEG, bestaande uit a. kasteeleiland, b. voorplein, c. eikenlaan, d. wandelbos, e. ezelwei.
ad.a.: het vrij kleine kasteeleiland, in opzet 17e eeuws of ouder, is trapeziumvormig en geheel omgeven door een hoge bakstenen muur (zie onder 3); vanaf het voorplein bereikbaar over een bakstenen brug met monumentale poort (zie onder 5); enige oude solitaire bomen (XXa), waaronder mispels, leilinden, een eik en een beuk; gazon met sokkels (zie onder 8); verder de middeleeuwse ruïne (zie onder 3).
ad b.: het eenvoudige voorplein ten noorden van het kasteeleiland heeft een puinverharding en is aan de oostkant van het dorp gescheiden door een hoge muur met inrijhek (zie onder 6); hierlangs staan oude leilinden; aan de noordzijde staat het koetshuis (zie onder 4), vanaf het voorplein bereikbaar via een korte klinkerweg, en aan de westkant begint de lange eikenlaan.
ad c.: de lange centrale laan, het belangrijkste onderdeel van de aanleg, loopt dwars door het complex van oost naar west; beplant (in 1911) met zomereik in driehoeksverband; puinverharding.
ad d.: het opgaande bos is voor een groot deel ontstaan uit hakhoutpercelen, XIX en ouder, hier en daar zijn nog oudere overstaanders te vinden; naast de eikenlaan zijn er de andere rechte onverharde lanen, waarvan twee evenwijdig aan weerszijden van de eikenlaan; er staan veel kleine bunkers uit WO II, die van ondergeschikt belang zijn.
ad e.: de ezelwei ligt - als enige open plek naast het voorplein - ten westen van het kasteel en biedt van daaruit een fraaie blik op de rand van het bos en de eikenlaan.

Description of component 2: PARK LAYOUT, consisting of a. castle island, b. forecourt, c. oak avenue, d. walking wood, e. donkey meadow.
ad a.: the fairly small castle island, in layout 17th century or older, is trapezium-shaped and entirely surrounded by a high brick wall (see under 3); accessible from the forecourt over a brick bridge with monumental gate (see under 5); several old solitary trees (early 20th century), including medlars, linden trees, an oak and a beech; lawn with plinths (see under 8); furthermore the medieval ruin (see under 3).
ad b.: the simple forecourt to the north of the castle island has a rubble surface and is separated on the east side of the village by a high wall with cart entrance (see under 6); along this stand old linden trees; on the north side stands the coach house (see under 4), accessible from the forecourt via a short brick-paved way, and on the west side begins the long oak avenue.
ad c.: the long central avenue, the most important component of the layout, runs across the complex from east to west; planted (in 1911) with pedunculate oak in triangular spacing; rubble surface.
ad d.: the standing wood arose for a large part from coppice plots, 19th century and older, here and there older standards can still be found; beside the oak avenue there are other straight unpaved lanes, two of which run parallel on either side of the oak avenue; there stand many small bunkers from World War II, which are of subordinate importance.
ad e.: the donkey meadow lies - as the only open space beside the forecourt - to the west of the castle and offers from there a fine view of the edge of the wood and the oak avenue.
