Inleiding
De voormalige HOOFDINGANG van de Generaal de Bonskazerne is gelegen aan de noordelijke zijde van het terrein, aan de gelijknamige weg. Het object in Expressionistische stijl, daterend uit 1939, bestaat uit een langs de Generaal de Bonsweg staande muur met hekwerk, met tussen de gebouwen B (5) en C (1) een poort en een wachthuisje. Thans is de hoofdingang aan de westelijke zijde van het terrein gelegen. Omstreeks 1970 is de ingang gerenoveerd.
Omschrijving
De muur met hekwerk scheidt het kazerne-terrein van de straat.
Deze bestaat uit met kunststenen dekplaten bekroonde bakstenen pijlers, die door een ca. één meter hoge borstwering verbonden worden. Tussen de pijlers zijn boven deze bortswering buisframes met traliewerk gemonteerd. Omstreeks 1970 zijn de oorspronkelijke lantaarns op de pijlers van de poort vervangen.
De ingangspartij ligt iets terug van de weg en bestaat uit een ijzeren vleugelpoort voor motorverkeer en een naastgelegen smalle poort voor voetgangers, beide gehangen aan bakstenen pijlers op betonnen sokkels. De pijlers zijn daardoor hoger dan alle andere. Het eenmans wachthuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en aan de poortzijde een ver overstekend betonnen lessenaardak.
In de zuidelijke en noordelijke gevel is een hoog en smal licht aangebracht. Aan de westelijke (poort-)zijde is het gebouwtje geheel geopend.
Waardering
De voormalige hoofdingang is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een bestuurlijke en strategische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van een kazerne als onderdeel van de Peel-Raamstelling, een belangrijk onderdeel van de landsverdediging, en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van kazernes in het interbellum. Architectuurhistorisch is het van belang vanwege de stijl die door de bureaus der genie werd toegepast en wegens het materiaalgebruik. Het is van belang vanwege de situering, verbonden met de strategische ontwikkeling van de aloude vestingstad Grave. Het is belangrijk vanwege de gaafheid van in- en exterieur.

Introduction
The former MAIN ENTRANCE to the General de Bons Barracks is located on the northern side of the site, on the road of the same name. The object in Expressionist style, dating from 1939, consists of a wall with gates along General de Bons road, with between buildings B (5) and C (1) a gate and a guardhouse. The main entrance is now located on the western side of the site. Around 1970 the entrance was renovated.
Description
The wall with gates separates the barracks site from the street.
It consists of brick piers topped with ashlar coping plates, which are connected by a parapet approximately one metre high. Between the piers, above this parapet, tube frames with trellis work are mounted. Around 1970 the original lanterns on the piers of the gate were replaced.
The entrance section is set back slightly from the road and consists of an iron swing gate for motor traffic and an adjacent narrow gate for pedestrians, both hung on brick piers on concrete bases. The piers are thereby higher than all others. The one-man guardhouse has a rectangular ground plan and at the gate side a heavily overhanging concrete lean-to roof.
A tall and narrow light has been installed in the southern and northern gables. On the western (gate) side the building is completely open.
