Inleiding
De BEGRAAFPLAATS, behorend bij het rooms-katholieke kerkelijke complex St. Vitus uit 1867-1871 naar ontwerp van architect P.J.H. Cuypers, ligt aan de westzijde van het complex, met de ingang achter het kerkelijke hoofdgebouw. De begraafplaats is vermoedelijk in dezelfde periode aangelegd als de andere onderdelen van het complex of kort daarna. Aan de westzijde van het doelmatig ingerichte terrein bevindt zich het oorspronkelijke houten BAARHUISJE (zie afzonderlijke omschrijving) en aan de noordzijde de Calvariegroep (zie afzonderlijke omschrijving). Voorts komen twee grafmonumenten voor afzonderlijke beschermig in aanmerking op grond van het goede ontwerp en/of het bijzondere materiaalgebruik. Te weten: het grafmonument met Pietà voor Pastoor Evers (1892) en het grafmonument met Engel voor het echtpaar Ydema-Witteveen (1909/1917) (zie de afzonderlijke omschrijvingen). De overige graftekens zijn van lokaal genealogisch belang.

De aanleg van de begraafplaats is zeer eenvoudig: het terrein is door rechte paden in regelmatige rechthoekige vakken onderverdeeld.
Waardering
De begraafplaats behorende bij het rooms-katholieke kerkelijke complex St. Vitus te Blauwhuis (gewijd 1872) is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:

Introduction
The CEMETERY, belonging to the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical complex St. Vitus from 1867-1871 designed according to the design of architect P.J.H. Cuypers, is located on the west side of the complex, with the entrance behind the main ecclesiastical building. The cemetery was presumably laid out in the same period as the other components of the complex or shortly thereafter. On the west side of the practical arrangement of the site is the original wooden MORTUARY CHAPEL (see separate description) and on the north side the Calvary group (see separate description). Furthermore, two grave monuments are suitable for separate protection on the basis of good design and/or the special use of material. Namely: the grave monument with Pietà for Pastor Evers (1892) and the grave monument with Angel for the married couple Ydema-Witteveen (1909/1917) (see the separate descriptions). The remaining grave markers are of local genealogical interest.
