Inleiding
Het BAARHUIS, gelegen op de begraafplaats behorende bij het rooms-katholieke kerkelijke complex St. Vitus te Blauwhuis (gewijd 1872) ligt aan de westzijde van de begraafplaats en is naar het oosten gericht. Baarhuis en begraafplaats zijn tegelijkertijd met de overige complexonderdelen gerealiseerd naar ontwerp van P.J.H. Cuypers architect (1867-1871). Het baarhuis is in Ambachtelijk-traditionele stijl ontworpen, met enige verwijzing naar de Neo-gotiek.
Omschrijving
Het houten baarhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt door een zadeldak (thans met golfplaten) gedekt. Langs de geveltop eenvoudige windveren met bewerkte makelaars. Het geheel rust op houten 'halfzuiltjes' op gemetselde poertjes. In de vlakken tussen de zuiltjes zitten gotische spitsboogvensters met vaste houten ventilatieroosters.In de voorgevel zit een lichtgebogen dubbele inrijdeur.
Waardering
Het baarhuis, behorend bij het rooms-katholieke kerkelijke complex St. Vitus te Blauwhuis (gewijd 1872), is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:

The MORTUARY CHAPEL, located on the cemetery belonging to the Roman Catholic church complex St. Vitus at Blauwhuis (consecrated 1872) lies on the west side of the cemetery and faces east. The mortuary chapel and cemetery were realized at the same time as the other complex components according to the design of P.J.H. Cuypers architect (1867-1871). Description
The wooden mortuary chapel has a rectangular plan and is covered by a gabled roof (currently with corrugated iron sheets). Along the gable top simple wind braces with worked brackets.
