Omschrijving
Het POORTJE dat toegang biedt tot het Barent van Namenshofje, is opgenomen in de omringende bebouwing. Aan de straatkant wordt de doorgang overdekt door een in rode baksteen gemetselde segmentboog. Boven de segmentboog een hardstenen gevelsteen met wapenschild, festoenen en een inscriptie: "Het hofje van Barent van Namen. Opgerigt anno 1730. Verniewt anno 1788".
Poortdoorgang, segmentboog en gevelsteen bevinden zich in een rechthoekige in rode baksteen gemetselde lijst met hardstenen aanzet- en schampstenen.
In de poort een houten deur en ijzeren hek om de toegang af te sluiten.
Waardering
Het poortje van het Barent van Namenshofje is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architecuurhistorische waarde wegens de restanten uit de achttiende eeuw en als onderdeel van een representatief vroeg twintigste eeuws hofje.
Stedebouwkundig gezien is het poortje van belang als enige onderdeel van het hofje aan de openbare weg en vanwege de functionele relatie met de andere onderdelen van het hofje.

Description
The GATEHOUSE providing access to the Barent van Namen almshouse is incorporated into the surrounding buildings. On the street side the passage is covered by a segmented arch laid in red brick. Above the segmented arch a sandstone facade stone with coat of arms, festoons and an inscription: "The almshouse of Barent van Namen. Founded anno 1730. Renovated anno 1788".
The gateway passage, segmented arch and facade stone are located within a rectangular frame laid in red brick with sandstone setting and edge stones.
In the gate a wooden door and iron grille to close the access.
Valuation
The gatehouse of the Barent van Namen almshouse is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural-historical value due to remains from the eighteenth century and as part of a representative early twentieth-century almshouse.
From an urban planning point of view, the gatehouse is important as the only component of the almshouse on the public road and because of the functional relationship with the other components of the almshouse.
The gatehouse is still well-preserved.
