Omschrijving

Description
Description
The double ALMSHOUSE DWELLING is built on a rectangular floor plan with truncated corners at the front (north). The facades are constructed above a sandstone plinth over one storey in red brick. The whole is covered with a hipped roof with truncated corners, red glazed improved Dutch tiles, a drip moulding on brackets and a brick chimney at the ridge end. In each roof slope a flush-mounted roof dormer with two nine-light windows.
In the front facade (north) two cross windows, in the truncated facade sections a window with fanlight. Drip moulds of glazed brick below the sash windows, six-light panes in the upper part of the cross windows or in the fanlights. Shutters on either side of the lower part of the windows. Iron dentil mouldings on the upper edge of the frames, below roll-mouldings.
In the side facades (east and west) are the entrances, panelled doors with a two-part fanlight. Against the front facade stand two brick benches with wooden seats, separated from each other by a wall.
Valuation
The double almshouse dwelling is of general importance because of its cultural-historical value as part of a representative early twentieth-century almshouse.
It is also of general importance because of its architectural-historical value due to the Neo-Historicist style with Old-Dutch elements and as a characteristic design in the varied oeuvre of W.C. Mulder.
From an urban planning point of view, the double almshouse dwelling is important because of the visual and functional relationship with the other components of the almshouse.
The exterior of the building is still exceptionally well-preserved.
