Inleiding
Dubbel symmetrisch WOONHUIS type villa uit 1884 in Eclectische stijl, waarschijnlijk in opdracht van de directeur van de houtzagerij, dhr. Varsseveld, gebouwd. Pand maakt deel uit van de monumentale reeks van drie Eclectische villa's aan de westwand van de Spoorstraat.
N.B. Aan de achtergevels van beide panden hebben moderniseringen plaatsgevonden die voor bescherming van ondergeschikt belang zijn.
Omschrijving
De tweelaagse villa is opgetrokken in rode baksteen met gepleisterde speklagen onder een afgeknot schilddak met een geprofileerde gootlijst en gedekt met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. Het pand heeft een gepleisterde plint en een cordonlijst, de muuropeningen zijn aan de bovenzijde voorzien van gepleisterde togen met sluitstenen met diamantkop. Voorgevel met middenrisaliet onder een afgeknot schilddak gedekt met losanges waarvan de overkragende gootlijst gedragen wordt door consoles. Centraal boven dit geveldeel een dakkapel met een dubbel vierruits venster binnen een houten omlijsting met wangen. De dakkapel wordt bekroond door een gebogen fronton doorbroken door een klein medaillon met frontonnetje. In het risaliet zijn de beide entrees naar de woningen geplaatst, voorzien van hardstenen trapjes. Op de verdieping zijn twee vensters geplaatst. Aan weerszijden van de risaliet een veranda met houten gecanneleerde zuiltjes en consoles. Daarachter twee terrasdeuren (links deels gewijzigd), op de verdieping aan iedere zijde twee vensters.
In linker zijgevel (zuid) een toegevoegde muuropening. De rechter zijgevel is blind.
De achtergevel heeft een middenrisaliet voorzien van enkele vernieuwde vensters op de begane grond, op de verdieping een oorspronkelijk en een vereenvoudigd venster. Aan weerszijden van het risaliet zijn de geveldelen voorzien moderne grote vensterpartijen met een terrasdeur op de begane grond en vernieuwd venster op de verdieping. Voor het rechter geveldeel is een houten veranda geplaatst met hardstenen trap naar de lagergelegen tuin.

Double symmetrical DWELLING HOUSE villa type from 1884 in Eclectic style, probably built on the commission of the director of the sawmill, Mr Varsseveld. Building forms part of the monumental series of three Eclectic villas on the west side of the Spoorstraat.
N.B. Modernisations have taken place on the rear facades of both buildings which are of minor importance for the purposes of protection.
Description
The two-storey villa is constructed in red brick with plastered bands beneath a truncated hipped roof with a moulded gutter edge and covered with clay peg tiles. The building has a plastered plinth and a cornice moulding, the wall openings are provided with plastered arches at the top with closure stones with diamond head. Front facade with central projection beneath a truncated hipped roof covered with lozenges, the overhanging gutter edge of which is supported by consoles. Centrally above this facade section a roof dormer with a double four-light window within a wooden surround with cheeks. The roof dormer is crowned by a curved pediment interrupted by a small medallion with small pediment. In the projection the two entrances to the dwellings are placed, provided with hardstone steps. On the upper storey two windows are placed. On either side of the projection a veranda with wooden fluted columns and consoles. Behind this two terrace doors (left partly altered), on the upper storey on each side two windows.
In left side facade (south) an added wall opening. The right side facade is blank.
The rear facade has a central projection provided with some renewed windows on the ground floor, on the upper storey an original and a simplified window. On either side of the projection the facade sections are provided with modern large window sections with a terrace door on the ground floor and renewed window on the upper storey. In front of the right facade section a wooden veranda is placed with a hardstone staircase to the lower-lying garden.
