Omschrijving
Het grafmonument bestaat uit twee liggende grafsteentjes met daartussen een sokkel met beeld. Op de grafstenen staan de namen van de begravenen: Josephus E.M. Bogaers 11-2-1889 - 12-21-1889 en Henrica J.M. Bogaers 28 mei 1890- 24 juli 1892. Op een hardstenen sokkel met vierkante basis staat tussen driepasversiering een achthoekige zuil met kapiteel waarop een groot beeld van terracotta. Het stelt een engel voor die een klein kind begeleidt en met één hand naar de hemel wijst.
Waardering
Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als getuigenis van de katholieke grafcultuur in Zuid-Nederland en als herinnering aan leden van de maatschappelijke elite in de negentiende en vroege twintigste eeuw. Het heeft kunsthistorische waarde vanwege de stijl, het materiaal gebruik en de detaillering en is tevens van belang als representatief voorbeeld van de ateliermatige produktie van sculptuur. Description
The grave monument consists of two lying gravestones with a plinth and statue between them. On the gravestones are the names of those buried: Josephus E.M. Bogaers 11-2-1889 - 12-21-1889 and Henrica J.M. Bogaers 28 May 1890 - 24 July 1892. On a hard stone plinth with square base stands between trefoil decoration an octagonal column with capital upon which a large terracotta statue. It depicts an angel guiding a small child and pointing to heaven with one hand.
Valuation
The grave monument is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as testimony to Catholic grave culture in South Netherlands and as a reminder of members of the social elite in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. It has art-historical value because of the style, material use and detailing and is also of importance as a representative example of the studio-like production of sculpture. It has ensemble value as part of both adjacent complexes of the Reformed and Catholic cemetery.
