GRAFZERK uit 1896 voor J. Raymakers in strenge Neo-Renaissance stijl.
Omschrijving
Het grafmonument is opgetrokken in de vorm van een kleine tempel met een vierkante plattegrond. Er is lichte en donkere natuursteen gebruikt. De donkere voor de hoge rechte sokkel, de opstand en het tentdak, de lichte voor de Toscaanse zuilen en het kruis op het dak. In alle zijden van de langgerekte opstand zijn hoge rondboogopeningen aangebracht. In het monument is een grote gebeeldhouwde gevleugelde zandloper geplaatst. Op de hoge sokkel staat de tekst: bid voor de ziel van zaliger den weledelen hr. Jacobus Raymakers geb. te Helmond 11 april 1811 en aldaar overl. 1 juli 1896. Het graf is afgezet met bewerkte hardstenen paaltjes waartussen schakelkettingen zijn gespannen.
Waardering
Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als getuigenis van de katholieke grafcultuur in Zuid-Nederland en als herinnering aan een der leden van de maatschappelijke elite in de negentiende en de vroege twintigste eeuw. Het heeft kunsthistorische waarde vanwege de Neo-Renaissance stijl in combinatie met de iconografie en de bijzondere, tempelachtige opbouw en is tevens van belang als representatief voorbeeld van de ateliermatige produktie van sculptuur. Het heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van de beide naast elkaar gelegen complexen van de hervormde en katholieke begraafplaats. Het is typologisch zeldzaam.

Description
The grave monument is erected in the form of a small temple with a square floor plan. Light and dark natural stone have been used. The dark for the high straight plinth, the superstructure and the tent roof, the light for the Tuscan columns and the cross on the roof. High semicircular openings have been made in all sides of the elongated superstructure. A large carved winged hourglass has been placed inside the monument. On the high plinth stands the text: pray for the soul of the late honourable gentleman Jacobus Raymakers born in Helmond 11 April 1811 and died there 1 July 1896. The grave is bordered with worked sandstone bollards between which chain links are stretched.
Valuation
The grave monument is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as testimony to Catholic grave culture in Southern Netherlands and as a reminder of one of the members of the social elite in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. It has art-historical value because of the Neo-Renaissance style in combination with the iconography and the particular, temple-like structure, and is also of importance as a representative example of the workshop-like production of sculpture. It has ensemble value as part of both adjacent complexes of the Reformed and Catholic cemeteries. It is typologically rare.
