GRAFZERK uit 1887 voor het echtpaar J.A. Raymakers in Neo-Barokke stijl.
Omschrijving
Het hardstenen graf, dat is omringd door bewerkte hardstenen paaltjes met kettingen, is ontworpen in de vorm van een grafkapel met een vierkante plattegrond. De stèle verjongt naar boven toe en heeft een vierzijdig koepeldak met daarop een kruis. De eerste smalle geleding heeft kransen, in de tweede geleding zitten segmentboognissen met fronton en voluten als omlijsting. In de nissen zitten plaquettes met de namen van de overledenen: aan onzen omvergetelijken vader Johannes Antonius Raymakers, lid der Prov. Staten 1821-1887, en de moeder. De bovenste smalle geleding heeft gebeeldhouwde festoenen tussen geprofileerde lijsten. Het dak heeft acroteria als decoratie, het hardstenen dak zelf is behakt als leien in maasdekking. Ook het kruis, dat op een kleine sokkel is geplaatst, is van decoratie voorzien.
Waardering
Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als getuigenis van de katholieke grafcultuur in Zuid-Nederland en als herinnering aan een der leden van de maatschappleijke elite in de negentiende en vroege twintigste eeuw. Het heeft kunsthistorische waarde vanwege de voor een katholieke begraafplaats tamelijk uitzonderlijke stijl en de detaillering is tevens van belang als representatief voorbeeld van de ateliermatige produktie van sculptuur. Het heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van de beide naast elkaar gelegen complexen van de hervormde en katholieke begraafplaats.

Description
The sandstone grave, which is surrounded by worked sandstone bollards with chains, was designed in the form of a chapel grave with a square floor plan. The stele tapers towards the top and has a four-sided dome roof with a cross on top. The first narrow articulation has wreaths, in the second articulation there are segmental arch niches with pediment and volutes as framing. In the niches are plaques with the names of the deceased: to our unforgettable father Johannes Antonius Raymakers, member of the Provincial States 1821-1887, and the mother. The uppermost narrow articulation has carved festoons between moulded lists. The roof has acroteria as decoration, the sandstone roof itself is cut to resemble slate in Dutch bond. The cross, which is placed on a small plinth, is also provided with decoration.
Valuation
The grave monument is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as testimony to Catholic grave culture in Southern Netherlands and as a reminder of one of the members of the social elite in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. It has art-historical value because of the style, which is rather exceptional for a Catholic cemetery, and the detailing is also of importance as a representative example of the workshop-like production of sculpture. It has ensemble value as part of both adjacent complexes of the Reformed and Catholic cemeteries.
