GRAFZERK uit 1888 voor drie mannen uit de familie Raymakers in Eclectische stijl.
Omschrijving
De hardstenen zerk is uitgevoerd als een tombe met een gebeeldhouwd doodskleed met plooien en sierrand er over heen. De tombe staat op een hoge getrapte sokkel en is omringd door bewerkte paaltjes waartussen schakelkettingen gespannen zijn. Aan de voorzijde is er een knielbankje. In de sokkel is gebeiteld voor wie het graf bestemd is: Jacobus H. Raymakers 1831-1888 / Antonius J.J. Raymakers 1868-1909 / Jacobus F.C.J. Raymakers 1905-1905 / Heer, gij waart onze toevlucht van geslacht tot geslacht.
Waardering
Het grafmonument is algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als getuigenis van de Katholieke grafcultuur in Zuid-Nederland en als herinnering aan drie leden van de maatschappelijke elite in de negentiende en vroege twintigste eeuw. Het heeft kunsthistorische waarde vanwege de stijl en de bijzondere detaillering en opbouw en is tevens van belang als representatief voorbeeld van de ateliermatige produktie van sculptuur. Het heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van de beide naast elkaar gelegen complexen van de hervormde en de katholieke begraafplaats. Het is typologisch zeldzaam.

The sandstone gravestone is executed as a tomb with a sculpted shroud with folds and decorative border draped over it. The tomb stands on a high stepped plinth and is surrounded by worked bollards between which chain links are stretched. At the front there is a small kneeling bench. Chiselled into the plinth is information about who the grave is intended for: Jacobus H. Raymakers 1831-1888 / Antonius J.J. Raymakers 1868-1909 / Jacobus F.C.J. Raymakers 1905-1905 / Lord, thou hast been our refuge from generation to generation.
Valuation
The grave monument is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as testimony to Catholic funeral culture in South Netherlands and as a remembrance of three members of the social elite in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. It has art-historical value because of the style and the special detailing and construction, and is also of importance as a representative example of the workshop-like production of sculpture. It has ensemble value as part of both adjoining complexes of the Reformed and Catholic cemeteries. It is typologically rare.
