Inleiding
Uit Noorwegen afkomstig houten TUINHUISJE, onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats Duinlust, in opvallende situering aan het voorplein ten noordwesten van het hoofdgebouw. Het tuinhuisje werd hier in 1899 geplaatst als verblijf voor de tuinman terwijl de achterzijde diende als fietsenstalling. Het object werd geleverd als bouwpakket volgens het systeem van blokbouw.
Omschrijving
Op T-vormig grondplan opgetrokken tuinhuisje bestaande uit parterre onder samengesteld zadeldak met flauwe dakhelling en overstek, die aan de kopse voorzijde (O) van het object zeer ruim is. De wanden staan op een gemetselde voet in rode baksteen en bestaan uit gestapelde gekantrechte balken die op de hoeken over elkaar zijn gekeept met doorlopende einden. De kap is bedekt met een zwarte kruispan. De nok wordt doorbroken door een gemetselde schoorsteen. De drie puntgevels hebben gedecoreerde windveren met gesneden makelaars. Tussen de windveren is hangend beschot aangebracht dat aan de voorzijde vier kleine ruitvormige openingen heeft en een licht getoogde onderzijde.
Vensters en deuren zijn op regelmatige en symmetrische wijze in de wanden aangebracht. De voorzijde heeft een dubbel scharnierende paneeldeur met spiegelglas in beide deuren en een verticale vierruits roedenverdeling in het bovenlicht. De beide zijgevels hebben driedelige kozijnen met vierruitsramen en in de naar voren springende delen (T-vormig grondplan) tweedelige kozijnen met vierruitsramen.
Waardering
Het houten tuinhuisje is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats Duinlust en uit cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch en typologisch oogpunt als laat 19de-eeuws voorbeeld van een bouwpakket volgens het montagesysteem van de blokbouw ten behoeve van tuinarchitectuur.

Introduction
Wooden GARDEN HOUSE from Norway, component of the historic country estate Duinlust, in striking location at the forecourt to the north-west of the main building. The garden house was placed here in 1899 as a residence for the gardener while the rear side served as a bicycle store. The object was supplied as a building kit according to the system of blockwood construction.
Description
Garden house erected on T-shaped ground plan consisting of ground floor under composite gabled roof with shallow roof pitch and overhang, which at the end facade (E) of the object is very generous. The walls stand on a mortared base of red brick and consist of stacked edge-squared logs which are notched over each other at the corners with through-going ends. The roof is covered with black clay pantile. The ridge is interrupted by a mortared chimney. The three gables have decorated wind braces with carved tenons. Between the wind braces hanging boarding is provided which on the front has four small diamond-shaped openings and a lightly arched underside.
Windows and doors are arranged in the walls in a regular and symmetrical manner. The front has a double hinged panel door with mirror glass in both doors and a vertical four-light glazing bars in the fanlight. Both side gables have three-part frames with four-light windows and in the forward-projecting parts (T-shaped ground plan) two-part frames with four-light windows.
Valuation
The wooden garden house is of general importance as a historic-functional component of the historic country estate Duinlust and from a cultural-historical, architectural-historical and typological perspective as a late 19th-century example of a building kit according to the assembly system of blockwood construction for garden architecture.
