Inleiding
In aanleg rond 1820 gebouwde ORANGERIE, onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats Duinlust, in romantisch-landelijke trant die met het oog op het metselwerk mogelijk rond 1880 ten dele of geheel werd herbouwd.
Omschrijving
De orangerie is gebouwd op de helft van een zeshoekig grondplan en bestaat uit één bouwlaag onder rietgedekte kap met rode nokvorsten. De zuidzijde heeft een verhoogde middenrisaliet onder flauwhellend zadeldak. Dit zadeldak is zinkgedekt en staat met de noklijn haaks op de hogere noklijn van de hoofdkap. De middenrisaliet heeft op de parterre een dubbel scharnierende deur binnen een getoogd en geprofileerd kozijn. Daarboven bevindt zich een halfrond beëindigd venster met dubbel scharnierend raam ter verlichting van de ruimte onder de kap. Het uit rode baksteen opgetrokken muurwerk is op de hoeken geleed met lisenen in harder gebakken oranje-rode steen. De noordzijde is geheel blind en voorzien van een pleisterlaag.
De orangerie heeft behalve de genoemde deuren in de middenrisaliet, in de flankerende muurvlakken ook dubbele scharnierende deuren. Deze deuren hebben per raam drie ruiten waarvan de onderste laag bij het maaiveld komt. De dubbele deur in de middenrisaliet heeft per raam twee ruiten waardoor de afstand van het onderste raam tot het maaiveld hoger is. Deuren en ramen zijn evenals de kozijnen alle van hout.
Waardering
De orangerie is van algemeen belang uit cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch oogpunt als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats Duinlust en als voorbeeld van laat-19de-eeuwse tuinarchitectuur in een romantisch-landelijke bouwtrant.

Description
The orangery is built on half of a hexagonal ground plan and consists of one storey under thatched roof with red ridge tiles. The south side has a raised central risalit under shallow-sloping gabled roof. This gabled roof is zinc-clad and stands with its ridge line at right angles to the higher ridge line of the main roof. The central risalit has on the ground floor a double hinged door within an arched and moulded frame. Above this is a semicircularly terminated window with double hinged sash for lighting the space below the roof. The brickwork constructed of red brick is articulated at the corners with pilasters in more densely fired orange-red brick. The north side is entirely blind and provided with a plaster layer.
The orangery has, besides the aforementioned doors in the central risalit, in the flanking wall surfaces also double hinged doors. These doors have per light three panes, the lowest layer of which comes at ground level. The double door in the central risalit has per light two panes by which the distance of the lowest light to ground level is greater. Doors and windows are, like the frames, all of wood.
Valuation
The orangery is of general importance from a cultural-historical and architectural-historical perspective as a historic-functional component of the historic country estate Duinlust and as an example of late 19th-century garden architecture in a romantic-rural building style.
