Het neoclassicistische LANDHUIS 'Sluishoef' ligt evenwijdig langs de Utrechtseweg in het noordwestelijk deel van het park. Het heeft een samengestelde plattegrond, en telt één en twee bouwlagen. De gevels zijn bepleisterd zonder geleding en/of detaillering. De vensters hebben veelal achtruits schuiframen. De ramen in het middenrisaliet zijn aan de bovenzijde afgerond, terwijl de bovenlichten zijn voorzien van eenvoudige vorktracering. Het huis heeft een met grijze Hollandse pannen, samengesteld dak, waarbij het verhoogde middenrisaliet een zadeldak heeft gekregen met de nok haaks op de Utrechtseweg en de lagere vleugels worden gedekt door een mansardedak met de nok evenwijdig aan de Utrechtseweg.
De voor- of noordgevel heeft een symmetrische indeling van drie traveeën en is in totaal zeven vensterassen breed. Het middenrisaliet is drie vensterassen breed, heeft twee bouwlagen en wordt bekroond door een in hout uitgevoerd fronton, waarvan het timpaan versierd is met een cirkel in het midden en twee driehoeken. Op de middenas bevindt zich een dubbele glasdeur, die geaccentueerd is door een ionische pilasterstelling en een kroonlijst. Boven de kroonlijst is een dubbele deur met bovenlicht. De vleugels zijn twee vensterassen breed. In het dakschild is een getoogd daklicht geplaatst.
De achtergevel kenmerkt zich door een fors bouwvolume met voorsprong op de middenas, dat in het verlengde ligt van het middenrisaliet in de voorgevel. In dit bouwvolume, dat door een schilddak is gedekt, was de oranjerie ondergebracht en is een toevoeging uit 1858. In de zuidgevel is een groot en hoog drielichtsvenster met gietijzeren roedenindeling gezet die aan de bovenzijde afgerond is. De vensters hebben stijlen met eenvoudige dorische pilasterprofilering, een geprofileerd raamkalf met rozetten in een houten opzetstuk boven de middenstijlen, waarop een vermoedelijk gietijzeren bloemversiering is gezet. Boven de drielichtsvensters is in de bepleistering bouwsporen te zien van een dakhelling met tuitbeëindiging. De zijgevels van de oranjerie hebben één venster conform de hierboven geschreven vensters in de zuidgevel. De achtergevel van de vleugels zijn hoger opgetrokken en volgen de knik van het mansardedak. Links wordt het zicht op de blinde gevel grotendeels ontnomen door de niet originele overkapping van het terras die van ondergeschikt belang is. Rechts heeft de gevel één achtruitsvenster.
De linker zijgevel heeft een symmetrische indeling van drie vensterassen met op de middenas de hoofdingang. De ingang heeft een uit imitatieblokken opgebouwde pilasteromlijsting. De deur heeft een rondboogvormig bovenlicht met eenvoudige vorktracering.
De rechter zijgevel heeft een symmetrische indeling van drie vensterassen met een deur in het midden. Meer naar achteren is een keukenaanbouw van één bouwlaag die van ondergeschikt belang is.
Het interieur op de begane grond heeft uit de bouwtijd stammende stucplafonds, waarin middenstukken met acanthusbladdecoraties, marmeren schouwen en houten deuren. De vertrekken op de verdieping hebben originele paneeldeuren.
Waardering
Het landhuis 'Sluishoef' is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde door de ontstaansgeschiedenis en de oorspronkelijke functie. The neoclassical COUNTRY HOUSE 'Sluishoef' is situated parallel to the Utrechtseweg in the northwestern part of the park. It has a composite ground plan and comprises one and two storeys. The façades are rendered without mouldings and/or detailing. The windows mostly have back-pane sash windows. The windows in the central risalit are rounded at the top, while the fanlights are furnished with simple forked tracery. The house has a roof composed of grey Dutch tiles, with the raised central risalit having a gabled roof with the ridge perpendicular to the Utrechtseweg and the lower wings covered by a mansard roof with the ridge parallel to the Utrechtseweg.
The front or north façade has a symmetrical arrangement of three bays and is in total seven window axes wide. The central risalit is three window axes wide, has two storeys and is crowned by a wooden pediment, of which the tympanum is decorated with a circle in the centre and two triangles. On the central axis is a double glass door, which is accentuated by an Ionic pilaster arrangement and a cornice. Above the cornice is a double door with fanlight. The wings are two window axes wide. In the roof panel is a segmented roof light.
The rear façade is characterised by a substantial building volume with a projection on the central axis, which is an extension of the central risalit in the front façade. The windows have mullions with simple Doric pilaster moulding, a moulded window frame with rosettes in a wooden superstructure above the central mullions, upon which a presumed cast-iron flower decoration is set. Above the three-light windows, building traces of a roof slope with spout ending are visible in the rendering. The side façades of the orangery have one window conforming to the windows in the south façade described above. The rear façade of the wings is built higher and follows the kink of the mansard roof. On the left the view of the blank façade is largely obscured by the non-original terrace covering which is of minor importance. On the right the façade has one back-pane window.
