Inleiding
WOONWINKELPAND "de Liefde", door architect R. Rijksen ontworpen in 1904 als apotheek, uitgevoerd in Art Nouveau, gelegen in de bocht van de Voorstraat naar de Neude en zo deel uitmakend van de pleinwand van het Neude.
Omschrijving
WOONWINKELPAND op rechthoekige plattegrond van drie bouwlagen en kap met plat en schilden, gedekt met rode geglazuurde kruispannen. De vanwege de verlopende rooilijn sterk gerende voorgevel is uitgevoerd in witte en gele strengperssteen, kunststeen en natuursteen. Beganegrond bekleed met natuurstenen platen, met grote segmentboog waarin houten winkelpui. Twee winkeldeuren opgenomen in de pui en één deur in de rechtertravee. De deuren hebben Art Nouveau belijning die doorlopen in de pui. De gevel van de de tweede en derde bouwlaag wijken terug achter de met een hoefijzerboog opengemaakte voorgevel. De tweede en derde bouwlaag bezitten onder meer een driezijdige houten erker over beide bouwlagen in de onder een schuine hoek geoplaatste geveldelen rechthoekige en rondboogvormige vensters.
Middendeel van de voorgevel eindigt als topgevel met een vrijwel rond raam met rechte onderdorpel onder de brede overstek, aan weerszijden gevelsteen met "ANNO" en "1904". Rechtertravee heeft op tweede bouwlaag overhoeks geplaatste tweezijdige erker, daarboven schuifvenster met meerruits bovenlicht en wordt bekroond met zeshoekige torentje met dito tentdak. Aan weerszijden van de topgevel nog twee kleine dakkapellen.
Apotheek-interieur met ondermeer oorspronkelijke opbergkasten, Art Nouveau toilet-pot en andere elementen.
Waardering
WOONWINKELPAND, van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als goed en gaaf voorbeeld van een in in- en exterieur uitgevoerd woonwinkelpand in Art Nouveau, voorzien van fraaie detailleringen in verschillend toegepaste materialen. Van stedenbouwkundige waarde vanwege de situering op een kruising waar twee straten, gesitueerd in een v-vorm, samenkomen. Het pand vervult een beeldbepalende rol in de gesloten gevelwand. Van cultuurhistorische waarde vanwege de bestemming welke is verbonden met de geschiedenis van de gezondheidszorg en de enorme groei van het beroep van apotheker rond 1900.

Introduction
RESIDENTIAL-COMMERCIAL BUILDING "de Liefde", designed by architect R. Rijksen in 1904 as a pharmacy, executed in Art Nouveau, located in the bend of the Voorstraat towards the Neude and thus forming part of the plein wall of the Neude.
Description
RESIDENTIAL-COMMERCIAL BUILDING on a rectangular plan with three storeys and roof with flat and hipped sections, covered with red glazed cross tiles. The front facade, which slopes significantly due to the sloping building line, is executed in white and yellow wirecut brick, artificial stone and natural stone. Ground floor lined with natural stone plates, with large segmental arch containing wooden shop frontage. Two shop doors incorporated in the frontage and one door in the right bay. The doors have Art Nouveau moulding which continues into the frontage. The facade of the second and third storeys set back behind the frontage opened with a horseshoe arch. The second and third storeys feature among other elements a three-sided wooden bay window spanning both storeys in the facade sections placed at an acute angle, with rectangular and semicircular arch windows.
Central section of the front facade terminates as a gable with an almost circular window with straight under-cornice beneath the wide overhang, on either side facade stone with "ANNO" and "1904". Right bay has on second storey diagonally placed two-sided bay window, above it sash window with multi-paned fanlight and is crowned with a hexagonal small tower with matching tent roof. On either side of the gable two further small roof dormers.
Pharmacy interior with among other things original storage cabinets, Art Nouveau toilet bowl and other elements.

RESIDENTIAL-COMMERCIAL BUILDING, of general importance for its architectural-historical value as a well-preserved and intact example of a residential-commercial building executed in Art Nouveau in both interior and exterior, furnished with fine detailing in various applied materials. Of townscape value for its location at a junction where two streets, positioned in a V-shape, converge. The building fulfils an image-defining role in the closed facade wall. Of cultural-historical value for its use linked to the history of healthcare and the enormous growth of the pharmacy profession around 1900.
